'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Opening Thursday Box Office Numbers Revealed
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is already blasting off.
The highly anticipated final film in the Skywalker saga launched to a $40 million opening during its Thursday evening previews (December 19), according to Variety on Friday (December 20).
The film is currently expected to bring is as much as $200 million in its opening weekend.
The number marks the fifth-best Thursday preview opening ever, behind Avengers: Endgame ($60 million), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($57 million), Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($45 million) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ($44 million).
The film has brought in $59.1 million internationally as well in 46 markets.
