OnlyFans Sets New Spending Limits & Bella Thorne Is Being Blamed; Company Responds to Backlash

Bella Thorne is being blamed for new spending restrictions that have been set on the social media website OnlyFans, a subscription-based platform where content creators can charge fans to see special content.

The 22-year-old actress joined the website just one week ago, saying that she is using the website to research a possible new film. In just one week, she earned $2 million.

Members on OnlyFans claim that Bella is scamming people into thinking they’ll get to see her nude on the website. A screenshot has been spreading on social media alleging that Bella is asking fans to pay $200 to unlock a series of photos. The message along with the locked photos says, “Naked. NAKED!? yes naked.”

The user responded, “How naked is the question for $200?” The response, allegedly from Bella, said, “No clothes naked” with a winking face.

Bella told the Los Angeles Times that this exchange was falsified.

OnlyFans creators used to have the freedom to charge what they wanted while selling content to their fans, but as of Thursday (August 27), the platform will not let creators charge more than $50 for pay-per-view content. A limit has also been set on tipping and no user can tip more than $100.

Also, vendors used to have the ability to get payment from the site within seven days, but now some international creators say they have to wait 30 days.

Creators have been blaming Bella for the new policy changes as the timing lines up to the backlash over the alleged $200 photo “scam,” which supposedly was never real to begin with.

OnlyFans denies that Bella has anything to do with the policy changes and the company said in a statement that “any changes to transaction limits are not based on any one user.”

“Transaction limits are set to help prevent overspending and to allow our users to continue to use the site safely,” the statement continued. “We value all of the feedback received since this change was implemented and we will continue to review these limits.”
