DMX Death Rumors Spread After Friend Mistakenly Says He's Dead

DMX‘s manager is putting an end to rumors that the rapper had died.

On Thursday evening (April 8), “RIP DMX” and “Rest in Power DMX” started trending on Twitter after one of the 50-year-old rapper’s friends posted that DMX had died days after having a heart attack.

“It is over. My friend is gone. Soar w/ the [doves emoji]. Join the best that ever did it. RIP…DMX,” comedian Luenell wrote on her Instagram Story. The post has since been deleted.

Now, DMX‘s manager, Steve Rifkind has taken to his Instagram to share a video message confirming that the rapper is still alive.

“Please stop posting these rumors, DMX is still alive,” Steve says. “Yes, he is still on life support but it is not helping anybody by seeing these false rumors.”

Steve also added that DMX’s family is planning to release a statement “sometime” on Friday.

Last Friday, DMX was hospitalized after reportedly overdosing and having a heart attack at his home. He was reportedly deprived of oxygen for nearly a half hour, and sources say he had “little brain activity” afterward.

After being accepted into the ICU, he had to be resuscitated and was put on life support, where he is currently in a “vegetative state.”

Our continued thoughts go out to DMX and his loved ones at this time.
