Peter Aykroyd Dead - 'Saturday Night Live' Alum & Writer Dies at 66

Peter Aykroyd, former Saturday Night Live cast member and writer and brother of actor Dan Aykroyd, has sadly passed away.

Peter‘s death was announced during the latest episode of SNL on Saturday (November 20), which was hosted by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor Simu Liu.

During the episode, a title card appeared on screen, reading, “Peter Aykroyd 1955-2021.”

SNL also paid tribute to Peter on Twitter, sharing a short film starring Peter titled “The Java Junkie.”

Peter appeared on SNL for one season in 1979, serving as both a writer and cast member. During his time on the show, he earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program.

Our thoughts are with Peter‘s loved ones during this difficult time.
