Doja Cat Addresses Her Work with Dr. Luke & Reveals Whether She'll Collaborate with Him in the Future

Doja Cat is getting candid about her career.

In a new profile for Rolling Stone, the Planet Her performer addressed her relationship with Dr. Luke, who produced her song “Say So” and the Saweetie collaboration “Best Friend.”

The controversial producer had previously been accused of physical and mental abuse by Kesha in 2014. She dropped the case in 2016, at which point the Dr. Luke countersued her and argued that her allegations were defamatory.

“It’s whatever. I don’t think I need to work with him again. I don’t think I need to work with him in the future. I know that,” she told the outlet, quipping, “I think it was definitely nice of me to work with him.”

Doja intially demurred when asked about collaborating with him again, telling Rolling Stone she did not “feel really comfortable answering.”

“I haven’t worked with him in a very long time,” she said. “A lot of those songs were… There’s s— that he’s credited for, where I’m like, ‘Hmm, I don’t know, I don’t know if you did anything on that.’”

She was asked to reveal which tracks she felt Dr. Luke was unduly credited for and replied it “didn’t matter,” adding that “he’s gotten some credit for sh-t.”

Doja followed up in an email through her representative.

“I wanted to clarify something that I had been thinking about since the interview,” she wrote. “When asked about Luke I may have said something that someone could interpret as me saying that he had taken credit on things he didn’t deserve to. I just want to be clear that I have no firsthand knowledge of that being the case and I don’t want to participate in the rumor mill. The credits on my music are accurate, and I don’t want to imply anything else.”

Saweetie also discussed whether or not she’d work with Dr. Luke again in an interview earlier this year.
