Jodie Whittaker‘s time as Doctor Who is coming to an end.

In addition to Daleks, Cybermen, and the Master, fans got a big surprise in seeing both Janet Fielding and Sophie Aldred, who played “companions” of the Doctor in the 1980s.

Janet had played Australian air steward Tegan Jovanka with Tom Baker and Peter Davison‘s Fourth and Fifth Doctor; and Sophie played Ace opposite Sylvester McCoy‘s Seventh Doctor.

The new teaser dropped just after this weekend’s “Legend of the Sea Devils” special episode.

Announced in July 2021, Jodie opened up about her exit from the series.

“We knew that we wanted to ride this wave side by side, and pass on the baton together. So here we are, weeks away from wrapping on the best job I have ever had,” she shared. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express what this role has given me. I will carry the Doctor and the lessons I’ve learnt forever.”
