Dev Patel Tries to Stop Knife Fight Between Man & Woman in Australia

Dev Patel was involved in a scary situation in Australia.

Page Six reports that the 32-year-old Green Knight star attempted to intervene in an argument that culminated in a stabbing on Monday night (August 1).

According to the outlet, a man and a woman were fighting in the street before they moved their exchange to a nearby gas station, where multiple people tried to deescalate the situation – including Dev.

7News reports that the 32-year-old woman ended up stabbing the 34-year-old man, at which point he was transported to a hospital. He is expected to survive the injuries.

“Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and deescalate the situation and break up the fight,” the actor’s reps told the outlet. “The group was thankfully successful in doing so, and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.”

His reps added that there were “no heroes” in the incident. “This specific incident highlights a larger systemic issue of marginalized members of society not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve,” they continued, adding that Dev hopes “the same level of media attention this story is receiving” will encourage lawmakers to be “compassionate in determining long-term solutions to help not only the individuals who were involved but the community at large.”

The woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was not granted bail and is expected to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
