There Are 'Arguments' About Archie & Lilibet's Royal Titles Behind-The-Scenes (Report)

No name change has been announced yet for Archie and Lilibet.

King Charles announced Camilla would be his Queen Consort, and that Prince William and Kate Middleton would inherit the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince Harry and Meghan‘s children were still referred to as “Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor” and “Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.”

According to People, there are “arguments over titles” behind-the-scenes.

Under current guidelines, grandchildren of a monarch could be princes or princesses, as established by King George V after he issued a Letters Patent in 1917.

King Charles III could change that rule, but it’s unlikely. A spokesperson said that nothing would be decided while the family was in mourning, which will last one week after the funeral that occurred on Monday (September 19).

“Archie will almost certainly become a prince one day. Charles isn’t going to disavow his grandson, so it’s hugely unlikely that he’ll change the rules to stop it happening…Charles also isn’t going to say that Archie can’t use the title any time soon,” a source told the outlet.

When Prince Harry and Meghan got married in 2018, the Queen gave them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Archie was entitled to the “courtesy title” of Earl of Dumbarton after his birth, but the couple announced that they had not given him a courtesy title, going on to step away from senior royal duties in 2020. Eventually, Archie could be given the title before inheriting the dukedom.
