Michael Jackson's Son Prince Reacts To Harry Styles Being Dubbed 'King of Pop'

Prince Jackson has some thoughts about using Michael Jackson‘s title to refer to Harry Styles.

In case you missed it, Rolling Stone referred to the “As It Was” hitmaker as “the new King of Pop” after featuring him on the cover of the magazine. This is a title that has long been held by Michael, and his son offered a measured response about the handover in a recent interview.

Prince told Good Morning Britain that “Harry Styles is an incredible artist.” However, he expressed hesitancy with giving him Michael‘s title.

“But, the ‘King of Pop’ was a moniker that really my dad earned in a time that the access to information and the access to popularity and fame wasn’t as easily accessible as it is today,” he said.

“And with so many other social factors that you have to take into consideration at that time, I do feel that my father is the King of Pop, will always be the King of Pop, and it’s not something that you can ever take away,” he added.

Prince explained why he held that view: “Because we’ve just evolved so much as a society that those same factors will never be the same,” he said. “So when you look at the… from where my father started to where he ended, versus where all these other people started to where they ended, it’s just night and day of a difference.”
