Stephen Amell Speaks Out About The Delay in 'Heels' Season 2 & Reveals Why It's Taking So Long To Premiere

Fans of the Starz series Heels might be waiting just a bit longer, according to star Stephen Amell.

During his appearance on Michael Rosenbaum‘s podcast, the 41-year-old actor got candid about why the second season is currently in limbo.

While discussing the future of the series, Stephen revealed that the reason there’s been a delay is all due to Lionsgate splitting from Starz.

“Heels is coming out eventually,” he told Michael, who many remember as Lex Luthor from Smallville.

Stephen added that he is ballparking a premiere of the “first or second quarter of 2023.”

“They are now in the process of, as best I understand it, ‘untangling’ that partnership,’” he said. “As they are untangling everything, they are figuring out which assets belong to whom. So as a result, we wrapped filming [Season 2] on the first of July and we don’t have a premiere date, let alone a trailer, let alone an indication of Season 3.”

He continued, “I know there are meetings that are starting to happen about writing for Season 3, but in the normal order of things, we would have more information than we do right now.”

Despite the delay, Stephen isn’t worried about the future of the show and is confident that a season three will be ordered.

“I would be worried if I didn’t think the season was spectacular, and I think the season is spectacular,” he shared. “It’s way better. More story, more scope…and it also felt more like a cohesive season because we actually shot it in order and were subject to COVID ‘hiccups’ but not COVID catastrophes. I’m still very, very confident that there’s going to be more [Heels] to film.”

Stephen stars opposite Alexander Ludwig in the series, which you can stream on Starz, Spectrum On Demand, Starz Amazon Channel, Starz Roku Premium Channel, and Hulu.
