During his appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? on HBO, James got candid about what’s next with the Na’vi.

Previously, James has revealed that the third movie was already filmed, but the fourth will be happening.

“It looks like just with the momentum that the film has now that will easily pass our breakeven in the next few days, actually, so so it looks like I can’t wiggle out of this, I’m gonna have to do these other these other sequels,” James joked, via ComicBook.com. “I’m sure that we’ll have a discussion soon, you know, with with the top folks that Disney about, you know, the game plan going forward for Avatar 3, which is already in the can we’ve already captured and photographed the whole film.”

He added that the fourth and fifth movies are “both written we even have some of four in the can. So you know, I think we can see that that I think we’ve begun a franchise at this point.”

Here are the projected premiere dates for Avatar 3, 4, and 5.

In another interview, James also spoke about Avatar 3 focusing more on the Fire Na’vi.

“[The next films will feature] cultures different from those I have already shown,” he shared with 20 Minutes. “The fire will be represented by the Ash People. I want to reveal the Na’vi from another angle because, at the moment, I have only shown their good sides.”

He continued, “In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we’ll do the reverse. We will also explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 will be received, if it will find its audience.”

In previous interviews, James opened up about how he’s actually unable to make any other movies because of his commitment to Avatar.
