Emma Mackey Confirms She Won't Return as Maeve In Future Seasons of 'Sex Education'

Emma Mackey is bowing out of Netflix‘s Sex Education.

The 27-year-old actress confirmed that she most likely will not be reprising her role as Maeve in a possible season five of the hit show.

Emma was asked about the chances of her return during the 2023 BAFTAs over the weekend, where she broke the news.

“Season 5? I’ve just finished the fourth one last week!” she shared with RadioTimes on the red carpet.

Emma added, “No, I don’t think I’ll be in season 5. I’ve said goodbye to Maeve.”

Just a week ago, Emma‘s co-star Ncuti Gatwa also hinted that he had also closed the door on a return in a fifth season.

“Last day. Last time. Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength,” he has posted on Instagram.

While Emma and Ncuti said goodbye to the series, they will both be in the upcoming Barbie movie together. See the full cast list here!
