THR reported that sources close to the project revealed that Nancy was unable to come to an agreement with the streaming giant over the budget.

While Nancy was requesting a budget of no less than $150 million, Netflix was only willing to go to $130 million. The suggested budget would have made the film one of the most expensive rom-coms of all time.

The rom-com, which was rumored to be titled Paris Paramount, had a handful of big stars in talks to be in the movie, including Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Michael Fassbender and Owen Wilson.

The movie was said to be about a “young writer-director who falls in love with a producer. The pair make several successful films before breaking up, both romantically and professionally. They are forced back together when a new, great project arises, and they find themselves having to deal with high stakes and volatile stars.”

If you’re unaware, Nancy previously directed The Intern, The Holiday and Something’s Gotta Give.
