GoT's Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Reveals When He'll Finally Watch 'House of the Dragon,' Explains Why He Finds Prequel Show 'Strange'

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hasn’t watched the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon yet, and he likely won’t for a while.

If you forgot, the 52-year-old star brought Jamie Lannister to life in the original series, which he starred in from start to finish.

He recently opened up about his conflicted feelings for the revival in an interview, revealing when he’d feel comfortable to watch House of the Dragon. He also explained why he felt “strange” after seeing a snippet of the new show.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Nikolaj expressed that it was “too soon” for him to watch the show.

After saying he has not yet watched, he explained when he would feel the urge: “I’ll wait. I’ll give it a couple of seasons, then I can binge watch it and then there’s the whole thing.”

The actor added that he had seen a part of the show – the opening credits.

“And it was a little strange because it was the same music and the title sequence was kind of similar. I was like, ‘Ah, this is too soon. Too soon,’” he explained.

Despite that, Nikolaj added that he knew the show was a hit.

“But I know that so many people love that show, and I’m really happy for them,” he said.

Nikolaj isn’t the only longtime Game of Thrones star to have expressed similar thoughts about House of the Dragon. Another star said that they likely wouldn’t watch the prequel at all.
