Get to Know Broadway's 'Parade' Breakout Star Alex Joseph Grayson with These 10 Fun Facts! (Exclusive)

Alex Joseph Grayson is giving a breakout performance in the Broadway revival of Parade and we caught up with him to learn some fun facts about him that fans might not already know!

In Parade, Leo and Lucille Frank (Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond) are a newlywed Jewish couple struggling to make a life in the old red hills of Georgia. When Leo is accused of an unspeakable crime, it propels them into an unimaginable test of faith, humanity, justice, and devotion.

Alex plays the role of Jim Conley in the musical. He has previously been seen on Broadway in Into the Woods, Girl from the North Country, and A Bronx Tale.

  1. I was the vocalist of a new age metal band called “TenThousandPounds”. We formed the band in late 2010 and recorded a demo. I think we were pretty good!
  2. I have been doing an “old man” act since I was five. You can ask my mom. As a child I had a variety of performances I would put on whenever we were in public places.
  3. I love playing NBA2K. A new version of this Basketball video game is released every year, and I never hesitate to buy it.
  4. I know how to speak a little Tagalog. My stepmom is from the Philippines. I actually started college Manila.
  5. Karaoke is one of my favorite pastimes. I used to sing in malls in the Philippines when I was 18. I even sang karaoke at my recent wedding!

  1. I irrationally hate when technology malfunctions. It is one of the few things that makes my blood boil. For some reason I feel entitled to perfectly functioning electronics at all times
  2. I prefer manual over automatic transmissions in cars. I learned to drive in a 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage. I loved mastering the use of the clutch to shift gears. I felt like Dale Earnhardt.
  3. I have seen the Pope in person. In 2016 on the last Wednesday of the year I was walking around Vatican City, and just chanced upon this tent with a long line of people next to it. The people working there asked me if I wanted to see the Pope, so of course I said yes.
  4. I enjoy entertaining myself. My early childhood was spent as an only child. I had lots of action figures that I would bring to life in epic battles.
  5. Ninja Turtles > Power Rangers. It’s not a debate.
