Zendaya Reveals the Role 'Spider-Man' Played In Her First Date While Accepting Big Screen Achievement Award at CinemaCon 2023

Zendaya reflected on her first date and revealed a Spider-Man connection that seems almost prophetic while onstage at 2023 CinemaCon.

The 26-year-old Euphoria actress was awarded the Big Screen Achievement Award while attending the ceremony on Thursday evening (April 27) at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During her acceptance speech, Zendaya spoke about her passion for storytelling and opened up about an early connection to the web-slinging Marvel hero. Of course, she stars in the latest iteration of Spider-Man movies alongside her boyfriend Tom Holland.

“Literally, my first date was when I was 15 years old and it was to go see Spider-Man in 3D,” she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the timeline, it’s likely that she is talking about Andrew Garfield‘s The Amazing Spider-Man. He was the last person to play the character before Tom assumed the role.

She continued, saying, “Now I consider myself honored to be able to buy a ticket and sneak into the back of one of your theaters, which I’ve done many times before, and watch my own.”

“And it’s been so special because I get to watch what the movie going experience does for people. It’s healing and it’s magical and I feel so grateful to be a part of it. So, thank you so much for this honor. Thank you for tonight. Thank you for all you do, and I hope to continue working with you for many, many years to come,” she said.

The star also linked up with Timothee Chalamet to tease some footage from their upcoming movie Dune: Part Two during the week-long conference.

Her big win comes less than a week after Zendaya pulled off a big surprise for her fans.
