Katie Holmes Weighs In On 'Dawson's Creek' Revival, Reveals Why There Are Hesitancies About a Reboot
Katie Holmes weighed in on the possibility of returning to Dawson’s Creek.
The 44-year-old actress and director starred on the beloved series in the late ’90s and early ’00s. In the era of revived shows, fans have been hoping to hear good news about the series returning in a new way.
She confirmed that there have been talks about a reboot while speaking at Kering Talks Women In Motion during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 18) in Cannes, France.
However, she also revealed a concern that has been brought up about bringing the show back.

“There have been many discussions over the years. We all loved the experience,” Katie told Variety during the conversation.
She added that there was a pressing concern about a reboot, though: “There’s a protection that comes along with the discussion. The show was a time capsule. To put it into today’s world might tarnish it a bit. It was right before everyone had a phone and social media and all of that, so there was an innocence that was there between these characters that was one of the things I think people liked about the show. To put it into the setting of today’s world, I don’t know.”
Katie continued, saying that “we’ve often talked about it,” adding, “For now, we kind of just keeping saying that until there is a real reason to do it, it hasn’t been something where people have said, ‘This is the take on it.’”
The star looked back on the show earlier this year during an interview.
While in Cannes, Katie also attended the Film AlUla’s “AlUla Creates” Initiative Panel Event.
