Taylor Lautner on That John Mayer Comment He Made: 'I Was Joking'

Taylor Lautner is speaking out about his viral “praying for John” comment.

If you didn’t see, Taylor was asked if he feels “safe” amid the imminent release of Taylor Swift‘s revamped Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

He responded, “I think it’s a great album. Yeah, I feel safe. Praying for John.”

The “John” referenced in Taylor‘s comment appears to be about John Mayer. Taylor Swift‘s infamous song “Dear John” is widely thought to be about her relationship with John Mayer.

During SiriusXM’s The Happy Hour, Taylor was asked about his recent “praying” comment, which has since gone viral.

Taylor said, “I don’t know if it was the wisest thing to say. I was definitely joking. Clearly it’s taken off.”

Taylor‘s wife, who is also named Taylor, then chimed in and said, “He said that and then I was like, ‘Okay, guess you’re going with that.’”

Taylor then said, “She knew immediately. She’s like, that’s gonna really trigger the Swifties. Or, I mean, they’re supportive of it because, I mean, I don’t know. I personally think John is a very talented musician, but I am aware of a couple songs that were on that album.”

Taylor Lautner opened up about his relationship with Swift back in 2016, letting fans know that he listens to her music.
