Embracing Her True Self

Keke expressed the pivotal moment in her life where she questioned whether she could truly be herself.

“The moment where you overthink sh-t. That’s not even me, why am I overthinking this? I guess you just get to the point where I want my life to be my own life,” she shared with Raven-Symoné, who had her own coming-out experience in 2013.

Unspoken Undercurrents

While Keke‘s parents never displayed any negativity about being gay, she acknowledged the existence of an unspoken atmosphere surrounding the topic.

She confessed, “There is like an unsaid thing that can make you feel…because I liked guys too, I was kinda like, ‘Well, we don’t have to talk about it.’ It was like that’s another extra thing that no one really has to know about.”

The actress revealed that at the age of 17, after years of repressing her feelings, she decided to embrace her life and explore her true self without holding back. This marked a turning point in her journey towards acceptance.

“I ultimately just feel like, the acceptance of that part of myself, in general, was a part of my process of being able to have love in my life,” she said.
