The outlet noted that writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo signed on for the project ahead of the Writers Guild of America reaching a stalemate in contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers. SAG-AFTRA, the screen actors guild, is also striking due to negotiations with the AMPTP.

Murder, She Wrote also has a producer on the project – Amy Pascal.

While there is no timeline for the gridlock in Hollywood to end, representatives told Variety that Lauren and Rebecca had the movie near the top of their list of commitments.

Angela passed away at the age of 96 in October 2022. One of her Murder, She Wrote co-stars died just a few weeks later.
