Aoki Lee Simmons Reveals If She Has Regrets Over Publicly Calling Out Her Dad Russell Simmons

Aoki Lee Simmons is looking back at calling out her dad Russell Simmons.

Back on Father’s Day, Kimora Lee Simmons and her two daughters Aoki, 21, and Ming, 23, called out the the 65-year-old Def Jam exec, accusing him of verbal abuse and erratic behavior. Kimora, 48, also accused her ex-husband of “threatening my kids’ lives.”

Russell then seemingly addressed his strained relationship with his two daughters, saying, “DEEPLY sorry for being frustrated and yelling.”

In a new interview, Aoki opened up about her decision to very publicly call out Russell.

“I don’t regret it,” Aoki shared with Teen Vogue. “Part of it was already out there. There were reasons I thought it was reasonable to publish because it was playing out in, like, a silent bubble.”

Aoki also shared that another celebrity, whom she didn’t name, reached out and re-assured her that she is not alone while publicly dealing with family drama.

“[That celebrity was] like, ‘Oh, I saw your thing. I did the same thing when I was, like, 20, and it was fine,’” Aoki recalled.

Two years ago, Russell and Kimora were involved in a legal battle.
