Seth MacFarlane Turns Down Oscars Hosting Gig for 2014

Seth MacFarlane will not be hosting the 2014 Academy Awards, he has confirmed after being asked to reprise his role as host.

“Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again,” the 39-year-old comedian wrote on Twitter. “Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix.”

JustJared.com broke the news last month that Seth was asked to host the ceremony again after last year’s producers were asked back to produce the show.
