President Obama on Bear Grylls' 'Running Wild' - Preview!

President Barack Obama will be appearing on a special episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls tonight (December 17) and the host is dishing on the experience!

The episode was taped in the Alaskan wilderness to raise awareness about climate change.

“Well, my overriding impression was just he’s a really humble, family-centered, lovely guy,” Bear told press about working with Obama (via Variety). “I think there’s a connection when you’re out in the wild with someone.”

“But I think at the end of it [what] really stood out for me was the little thing we did right at the end where we prayed together and it’s funny because it’s sort of such an intimate thing to do, but we talked about faith on the journey,” he added.

Bear says that Obama was confident during the experience.

“I said to him right after we just lit the fire, I said, ‘Annoying president, you’re good at everything. You just, you know, normally people take hours doing this. You’re just naturally good at it,’” Bear said. “It was so lovely hearing him say at the end that it’d been one of the best days of his presidency.”

President Obama & Bear Grylls Eat Raw Salmon on 'Running Wild' - First Look Clip!

Check out this first look video of President Barack Obama appearing on Bear Grylls‘ survival show Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

In the clip, the President, 54, and Bear, 41, ate some raw fish that had been half-eaten by a bear.

“Bear’s a mediocre cook, but the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging,” the president said in the clip. “Now, the fact that he told me this was a leftover fish from a bear, I don’t know if that was necessary. He could have just left that out.”

“As president, I am in what’s called the bubble, and Secret Service makes sure that I’m always out of danger, which I very much appreciate, but it can be a little confining,” the president added. “Every once in a while, if I do something unexpected, the phrase we use is that, ‘The bear is loose,’ so to be with Bear in the woods, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

The full episode is expected to air this year! Watch the clip below…
