Legendary singer David Crosby was thrown out of The Hollywood Reporter‘s interview studio after he went off the rails during a podcast with awards columnist Scott Feinberg.
The interview was intended to be a career retrospective to promote David‘s new documentary David Crosby: Remember My Name. At the beginning of the interview, Scott made this known and David said to ask anything.
Things seemed to be going well, but David got impatient with talking about things that are covered in the documentary and told Scott to just read his books.
The interview ended after David told Scott, “You’re kind of a dumb guy, you know that?”
“Well, I can understand why some of these other guys have a problem with you. If you don’t wanna do it, don’t do it. But don’t come here and insult me,” Scott said in response.
Scott later tweeted, “Unfortunately, I just had to throw David Crosby out of our podcast studio because he was so incredibly rude. I’m debating whether or not to air the half-hour we recorded before I’d had enough. You should still go see the new doc DAVID CROSBY: REMEMBER MY NAME, which is very good.”
It’s worth noting that Scott is one of the most respected journalists in the business and has done hundreds of podcasts with awards candidates, plus has hosted THR‘s award-winning roundtable discussions.
Cameron Crowe, who produced the documentary, praised the interview.
“It’s 26 minutes of one of the best, most detailed Crosby interviews I’d ever heard. Make that 35 minutes of the best Crosby interview. I never knew John Sebastian was considered, and never heard that Stills rap about blues in the band. I’m telling ya, this is a high-quality interview,” he said.
