Los Angeles Clippers Owner Donald Sterling is Battling Cancer

Donald Sterling is reportedly battling cancer and he has lived longer than doctors predicted, according to The New York Post.

“They thought he would die two years ago,” one source who works closely with pro sports teams said. “People have been predicting his imminent demise. I’m sure he has the best… drugs money can buy. He can do anything to keep himself alive.”

Another source said that Donald is suffering from prostate cancer. It happens to be the same cancer that he refused to help Clippers assistant coach Kim Hughes treat via surgery nearly a decade ago.

Earlier this week, Donald was banned from the NBA for life and fined $2.5 million for racist remarks he made that were then published by TMZ.

Clippers Coach Doc Rivers Issues Statement on Donald Sterling's Alleged Racist Remarks

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers has released a statement regarding the team owner Donald Sterling‘s alleged racist remarks.

“I would like to reiterate how disappointed I am in the comments attributed to [Donald Sterling] and I can’t even begin to tell you how upset I am and our players are,” the coach said in his statement.

“Today, I had a meeting with the members of our organization. When you are around all these people, you realize they are just as upset and embarrassed by the situation and it does not reflect who they really are. That was what I got from all of them,” Doc added. “They are now a part of this and they are upset at this. But, they are all going to hang in there and so are we – I can tell you that as a group and as a team. From our fans’ standpoint, I want to say that they have been amazing, I can tell you that. We need unbelievable support right now from other people and I’m hoping we get that. My hope is that whatever the fans do, it is as one. I think that is what we all should do.”

L.A. Clippers NBA Team Wear Uniforms Inside Out in Protest of Owner Donald Sterling's Alleged Racist Remarks (Video)

The players of the Los Angeles Clippers walk out onto the court for their game against the Golden State Warriors with their uniforms turned inside out on Sunday (April 27) at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

The team hid their logo in protest of the racist remarks reportedly made by owner Donald Sterling on tapes that obtained by TMZ.

The audio features an alleged argument between Sterling and his girlfriend V. Stiviano in which he says derogatory things, including, “You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that…and not to bring them to my games.”

Sterling and the Clippers organization released a statement to the site saying, “We have heard the tape on TMZ Sports. We do not know if it is legitimate or if it has been altered. We do know that the woman on the tape — who we believe released it to TMZ Sports — is the defendant in a lawsuit brought by the Sterling family, alleging that she embezzled more than $1.8 million, who told Mr. Sterling that she would ‘get even.’”

The statement continues, “Mr. Sterling is emphatic that what is reflected on that recording is not consistent with, nor does it reflect his views, beliefs or feelings. It is the antithesis of who he is, what he believes and how he has lived his life. He feels terrible that such sentiments are being attributed to him and apologizes to anyone who might have been hurt by them.”

This allegedly started when Sterling got angry about an Instagram photo (which has since been deleted) that Stiviano posted with NBA legend Magic Johnson. In the tape, Sterling is allegedly heard saying, “Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games.”

President Barack Obama was asked to comment on the remarks during a press conference in Malaysia to which he replied, “When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything. You just let them talk. That’s what happened here.”
