Green Day guitarist Jason White has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

“We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread,” the band wrote on its official website. “Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery.”

Jason became an official member of the band in 2012 after spending thirteen years as a touring member.

We wish Jason a speedy recovery during this difficult time!

The band teamed up with director Samuel Bayer for the clip of the lead single off their upcoming album, ¡Uno!, which is due out September 25.

“It’s kind of a tension ballad… instead of pulling at your heart strings, it’s like a noose pulling at your heart a little bit, and trying to keep your emotions intact,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained to MTV. “It’s very lustful, which is kind of a subject we haven’t gotten into in a long time.”

The band will be making a comeback by releasing three new albums in the span of four months! The first disc, ¡Uno!, drops on September 25. The second album, ¡Dos!, will hit stores on November 13, and the third album, ¡Tres!, releases on January 15.
