Milo Ventimiglia is explaining why he wasn’t in the running to take over for Ben Affleck in the upcoming Batman film.

The 42-year-old actor says that he wanted the role but he was told by Warner Brothers that he was too old.

“Do I see myself in a cape and cowl?” Milo asked on Variety‘s “Big Ticket” podcast.

While his answer was certainly yes, “Warner Brothers didn’t. They said, ‘Ventimiglia, you’re too old.’”

Milo jokingly added, “It’s okay. It doesn’t matter. By the way, I’m kind of busy.”

Milo Ventimiglia stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night (August 1) and dished all about having to work with dogs in his brand new movie, The Art of Racing in the Rain!

The 42-year-old This Is Us star told Jimmy that in order for him to have a good scene with his dog co-stars in The Art of Racing in the Rain, he had to stop looking at them in the eye.

Milo said that he discovered from the film’s dog trainer that he needed to look elsewhere: “She goes, ‘Were you looking the dog in the eye?’ and I go ‘Yeah.’ She goes, ‘You are his alpha, he won’t challenge you. So look him in the center of the forehead, look him in the ear but don’t look him in the eye,’” he recalled.

Milo Ventimiglia also talked about his parents lack of interest in his career, introducing them to Sylvester Stallone, going on a USO Tour in the Middle East and doing a scene from This is Us for the soldiers.

That same day, Milo joined his co-star Amanda Seyfried on the red carpet at the premiere of their movie The Art of Racing in the Rain.

The co-stars were joined at the premiere by two adorable golden retrievers. The film is about a dog who learns that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life.

Kevin Costner voices the dog in the movie and he was joined by wife Christine Baumgartner and their kids at the event. Also in attendance were co-star Gary Cole and director Simon Curtis.

Milo‘s This Is Us co-stars Susan Kelechi Watson and Logan Shroyer were there, as well as Wilmer Valderrama.

FYI: Amanda is wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress, Stuart Weitzman heels, and Jennifer Meyer earrings.

Patrick Dempsey looks so cool and casual leaning on a race car while attending the Austrian Grand Prix training session on Saturday (June 29) in Spielberg, Austria.

Also seen at the event that day was This Is Us actor Milo Ventimiglia.

The big race is actually taking place right now! You can tune into ESPN to watch everything go down. The motorists will be driving a total of 71 laps during the race and, at the time of this posting, are only on lap 4.

Looking good, Milo Ventimiglia!

The 41-year-old This Is Us actor was spotted stepping out for lunch with friends earlier this week in Los Angeles.

He bared his biceps in a short-sleeve black t-shirt, which he paired with rolled-up black jeans, black shoes, a black sweatshirt tied around his shoulders, and a black and white Universal Studios baseball cap.

“Peace Always. Nairobi, Kenya. MV,” Milo Ventimiglia captioned the Instagram photo below on Friday (June 28).

“Difficult to stand in 24 acres of trash on the other side of the globe, look down and see your name looking back at you,” he added along with another photo. “We should all try to do better. For one another. For our planet. For ourselves. Let’s all do better across the board. MV.”

Milo Ventimiglia is joined by his The Art of Racing in the Rain co-star Amanda Seyfried and This Is Us co-star Mandy Moore as they step out for the 2019 Popsugar Play/Ground on Saturday afternoon (June 22) at Pier 94 in New York City.

The stars attended panels where they talked about their projects as they attended Day One of the event.
