White House Will Not Release Osama bin Laden Death Photo
Osama bin Laden Dead
Osama bin Laden is dead, President Barack Obama has announced.
“I can report to the American people and to the world, the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children,” the president said in a speech Sunday night (May 1).
Osama, the 54-year-old mastermind behind the September 11 attacks, was killed after a firefight in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The U.S. then took custody of his body.
The death comes almost a decade after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
