Legendary television host Regis Philbin has sadly passed away at the age of 88.

Philbin‘s family confirmed that he died on Friday (July 24) from natural causes.

“We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday,” his family told People in a statement.

The statement continued, “His family and friends are forever grateful for the time we got to spend with him – for his warmth, his legendary sense of humor, and his singular ability to make every day into something worth talking about. We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss.”

Regis began hosting Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee alongside Kathie Lee Gifford back in 1988. He then hosted alongside Kelly Ripa until he left the show in 2011.

In addition to his talk show duties, Regis was the original host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? from 1999 to 2002. He also hosted the first season of America’s Got Talent and the game show Million Dollar Password.

Gerard stepped out to support the new film, which is finally coming to theaters, two years after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

More stars who stepped out to support the film included Elisabeth Rohm, Thomas Middleditch, Regis Philbin and wife Joy, and Ariel Winter with boyfriend Luke Benward.

Burden is now playing in select theaters.

Kathy Lee Gifford is saying goodbye.

The longtime Today anchor celebrated her final day on the morning show on Friday (April 5) alongside her co-host and friend Hoda Kotb and the rest of the crew.

The hour included surprises guests including Dean Cain and Ryan Eggold, as well as Barry Manilow, who performed “Cant’ Smile Without You.” Regis Philbin also made a video appearance to pay tribute to his former TV co-host. There was also a surprise segment featuring her son Cody, 28, and daughter Cassidy, 25.

“I have 30 seconds to say what has taken me a lifetime to say,” she said while crying during the final moments of the show.

“Jeremiah 29 says, ‘I know the plans I have you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a future and a hope.’ That’s not just true for me you guys. That’s true for everybody watching. Trust him. Let him love like he wants to love you, like I am loved by all of you. Thank you.”

Nothing has changed between Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford!

The former Live! talk show co-hosts reunited on the set of the Today show, where Kathie is currently a host alongside Hoda Kotb.

Since Hoda is on maternity leave, Regis filled in and the duo picked up right where they left off.

“Look who’s in for Hoda-momma. I’m happy you’re back – we can have some laughs now,” Kathie said on air.

Kathie and Regis later faced off with a couple in a Newlywed-inspired game dubbed Dynamic Duo Duel.

Regis Philbin claims he’s never been asked back to Live! With Kelly since he left in 2011, but producers have revealed otherwise.

Dave Davis, President and General Manager of WABC (which produces the morning talk show), released a statement.

“It was wonderful to have Regis on the show for our 2015 Halloween special,” he said. “He’s also been invited back several times as a guest, and in fact was confirmed for a date, but was not able to make it at the time.” See a clip from the appearance below!

Regis talked about it during an interview on Larry King Live in which he also revealed that he doesn’t keep in touch with Kelly Ripa, and he claims she was “offended” when he left the show.

Regis Philbin is opening up about his relationship (or lack thereof) with former Live! co-star Kelly Ripa.

The 85-year-old TV personality confirmed that he is no longer in contact with her after leaving the ABC show in 2011.

“Never once did they ask me to go back,” Regis said on Larry King Now (via People). “She got very offended when I left. She thought I was leaving because of her. I was leaving because I was getting older and it wasn’t right for me anymore.”

Regis hosted the show for 28 years, the last 10 of which were alongside Kelly.
