Rent Live‘s Brandon Victor Dixon totally stole the show once again during his second time in a live televised musical!

The 37-year-old actor, who previously appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, blew us away with his performance of the song “I’ll Cover You (Reprise)” during the second act of the musical.

The song takes place after Brandon‘s character Tom Collins’ partner Angel passes away.

Brandon earned an Emmy nominated for his work in Jesus Christ Superstar and we can’t wait to see if he can do it again!

Idina Menzel is sending her love to Vanessa Hudgens!

During Sunday night’s (January 27) performance of Rent Live on Fox, the 47-year-old Broadway legend took to Twitter to praise the 30-year-old singer/actress.

“Just watched @VanessaHudgens absolutely kill it during take me or leave me. So proud of you Vanessa! ❤️,” Idina tweeted.

During Rent Live, Vanessa played the role of Maureen Johnson – which Idina also played in the original Broadway production and 2005 film version of the show.

Vanessa Hudgens belts out the song “Take Me Or Leave Me” along co-star Kiersey Clemons during the production of Rent Live.

The song is an act two showstopper between Maureen and Joanne. After Joanne gets jealous of her partner’s flirtations with other women, Maureen tells her to “take me or leave me.”

The show was actually not live as anticipated due to star Brennin Hunt‘s injury at the end of Saturday night’s final dress rehearsal. Fox ended up playing the recording of the dress rehearsal and then went live for the finale.

The musical is just wrapping up on Fox after it was announced that the show would no longer be live after Brennin Hunt (aka Roger) broke his foot during Saturday’s dress rehearsal.

Keala Settle is one of the various performers in the ensemble of the show, and she was heavily featured in “Seasons of Love.” You may recognize Keala from her work in The Greatest Showman.

Tinashe belts out the hit song “Out Tonight” from Rent Live, airing right now on Fox.

The 25-year-old entertainer is playing the role of Mimi in the hit musical alongside the star-studded cast including Vanessa Hudgens, Brennin Hunt, Jordan Fisher, Valentina, Kiersey Clemons, and more.

Jordan Fisher (Mark) and Brennin Hunt (Roger) sing the title song from the musical Rent Live, airing right now on Fox!

Unfortunately, Brennin broke his foot during Saturday’s dress rehearsal and the show was no longer live. Instead, producers made the decision to air previously recorded footage from the dress rehearsal.

Brennin Hunt broke his foot during the Rent Live dress rehearsal on Saturday (January 26) and Fox was forced to show previously recorded footage instead of having the show go live.

Brennin took to his Instagram Story before the show to briefly address the injury.

First, he showed the show’s costume designer sewing him into his pants over his leg cast.

In another clip, Brennin said, “Breaking my foot last night was not fun but it’s been great being back on set with everybody. I love these people so much. They have showered me with love and kindness, which is the essence of this musical. I am just truly honored and blessed to be a part of this family and I hope you enjoy tonight.”

At the end of the broadcast, the show will go live as the whole cast gets together.
