Savannah Guthrie Is Being Praised for Calling Out Trump During Town Hall

Donald Trump refused to participate in a virtual debate with Joe Biden tonight, so there are two Town Hall events with the candidates that are happening at the same time.

Trump‘s Town Hall is being hosted by NBC and Today‘s Savannah Guthrie is moderating the event, though many have commented on how it feels more like a debate between the president and the moderator.

Democrats are praising Savannah for calling out Trump on some of the falsehoods that he has been spewing, including his retweets of conspiracy theories and his thoughts on QAnon.

Savannah has called out Trump for not having a health care plan ready even though his administration is going to court in November to throw out Obamacare, which will get rid of the guarantee for people with pre-existing conditions. She also called him out on not urging Americans to wear a mask and he says he has no problem with mask wearing.

Donald Trump Mocks NBC & Slams Network Stars Amid Town Hall Scheduling Drama

Donald Trump is putting NBC on blast at the same time as Hollywood stars.

Following the news of the network’s rejection of Hollywood-endorsed petitions to move the President’s town hall, which is currently scheduled to air at the exact same time as Joe Biden‘s town hall on ABC on Thursday (October 15), Trump lashed out during a rally in North Carolina.

“So you know I’m being set up tonight. I’m doing this town hall with Concast, C-O-N, con, cause it’s a con job,” he said, via Deadline.

“It’s NBC, the worst. Home of Sleepy-Eyed Chuck Todd and some others,” he added.

“I figured, what the hell, we get a free hour on television,” he went on to say, while mocking Today anchor and town hall moderator Savannah Guthrie (“she’s always lovely, isn’t she?”), NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt (“he’s a beauty”) and the town hall NBC had with Biden last week.

“It was a joke,” he said.

“Actually, I’d like to watch him, because I’d like to see if he can make it through the program, he continued.

Savannah Guthrie to Undergo Eye Surgery Which Will Hopefully Restore Her Vision

Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie will be taking some time off to have surgery on her eye, months after her three-year-old son Charley threw a toy train at her right eye causing extensive damage.

The initial injury was a “massive tear” in her retina and retina detachment which cause her to have one surgery back in December.

Now, she will have cataract surgery on that same eye to improve her vision.

“It’s been a long time, I’m super excited,” Savannah said on the air. “I feel like it’s Christmas morning because if they remove this cataract I’ll really be able to see, and I’ve had a hard time seeing.”

About her vision today, she said, “It’s kind of distorted and then it’s got a wavy thing, and now I have this cataract, which is a big blurry spot. Once they remove that blur, I think it will be a lot better.”

She will be taking some time off to recover after the surgery, and added, “Hopefully next time I see you I’ll really see you!”

Savannah Guthrie Claps Back After Troll Calls Her Hair 'Unkempt'

Savannah Guthrie is defending her on-air look.

The 48-year-old TODAY anchor clapped back at a troll on Twitter after they said her hair was “distracting” during a recent broadcast.

“@SavannahGuthrie Cmon. With what they pay you, can’t you afford a hair stylist? I love the natural unkempt look but its distracting on @NBCNews national news,” the user wrote on Twitter.

Savannah responded to the tweet, writing, “We are all doing our own hair and makeup during the pandemic. And yes it shows!”

For the past few months, Savannah along with tons of other on-air anchors have been reporting from home during the pandemic.

Savannah Guthrie To Film 'Today' From Her Basement Due To A 'Super Mild' Sore Throat

Savannah Guthrie will be reporting from home when you turn on Today this week.

The 48-year-old anchor and attorney will be staying home after coming down with a mild sore throat, and THR reports that NBC News president Noah Oppenheim also released an email to staff telling them to follow her lead if they also presented with any kind of symptoms.

“Well, this will be a first,” Savannah shared on social media. “I’m going to be anchoring Today from my house! In an abundance of caution, and to model the super vigilance the CDC has asked of all of us, I’m staying home because I have a mild sore throat and runny nose.”

She continued, “This was the advice of NBC’s superb medical team and my bosses. I feel good and am sure I will be back in no time — but during these days, it’s on all of us to be extra cautious and caring of those around us. #loveyourneighbor So see you tomorrow on TODAY – from my basement!”

Earlier in the week, Savannah‘s co-workers, Al Roker and Craig Melvin, were also social distancing themselves after one staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
