Here's the Official Reason 'Sons of Anarchy' Was Removed from Netflix

Charlie Hunnam‘s FX show Sons of Anarchy was removed from Netflix’s streaming service this weekend, and fans were very upset over this latest development.

Now, the creator of the show, Kurt Sutter, is explaining why the hit drama was removed and why his new show, Mayans M.C., will also never hit Netflix.

“The simple explanation why SOA is no longer on Netflix and neither will MAYANS… The Disney/Fox deal was about creating a competing streaming platform. That is the future of TV. Although it’ll take a minute to launch, F/D’s content is their biggest asset in that marketplace,” Kurt tweeted to his followers questioning the decision to remove the show. “You can still watch FX shows on FXNow, Hulu and Amazon. At least, for now… I know that doesn’t help if you only have Netflix, but in this ever-changing digital landscape, we are doing our fucking best to get content on as many streaming sources as possible. Sorry it’s wack.”

If you don’t know, Disney recently bought Fox. Disney is set to launch its own streaming service, Disney+, and though the launch date hasn’t been set, it’s rumored to be sometime in 2019.

JD Pardo to Star in 'Sons of Anarchy' Spin-off, 'Mayans MC'

JD Pardo has signed on to star in the upcoming pilot for Mayans MC, a spin-off of the smash hit FX series Sons of Anarchy.

The show will take place after the events in the original series and will focus on “EZ Reyes (Pardo), a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel as well as his need for respect from the women he loves,” according to THR.

Edward James Olmos will play the father of Pardo‘s character.

Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy, will co-write and direct the pilot.

'Sons of Anarchy' Spin-Off in Development at FX

Good news for Sons of Anarchy fans – the show is getting a spin-off!

According to Variety, few details are known, but creator Kurt Sutter will serve as executive producer for the untitled project at FX, and is reportedly searching for a showrunner so he can spend time on his new show Bastard Executioner.

The show would “focus on the Mayans motorcycle crew and would be set in the Northern California motorcycle club scene,” the outlet reports.

In case you don’t remember, the Mayans were an Oakland-based Hispanic gang that was involved with heroin and prostitution, and was often at odds with SAMCRO.
