Damn Yankees! actor and 1950s Hollywood heartthrob Tab Hunter has sadly passed away at the age of 86, just a few days shy of his 87th birthday.

Tab’s partner of over three decades, Allan Glaser, confirmed that he passed away on Sunday (July 8) due to a blood clot that caused a heart attack, THR reports.

Tab was known for his work in Battle Cry (1955), The Girl He Left Behind (1956), Burning Hills (1956), Damn Yankees! (1958), and more.

In 2005, his autobiography, “Tab Hunter Confidential: The Making of a Movie Star,” was released.

Zachary Quinto and J.J. Abrams are preparing to tell the story of a major Hollywood love affair.

The two are teaming up for a drama based around the love affair between Tab Hunter and Anthony Perkins, called Tab & Tony, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Wednesday (June 6).

The movie will be based on Tab’s first-person account of “his struggle to come to terms with his sexual orientation in 1950s Hollywood, an era in which being openly gay was taboo.”

J.J. and Zachary will co-produce along with Allan Glaser, who is Tab‘s longtime partner. Doug Wright will pen the screenplay.

Tab & Tony is based on Tab‘s bestselling 2005 memoir Tab Hunter Confidential: The Making of a Movie Star.

The search for a director and actors is now underway.

Tab Hunter is one of the most well known names of Hollywood’s golden age and he just posed for a brand new photo shoot at age 86!

The legendary actor has been very open in recent years about his sexuality and how he was closeted back when he was a major movie star. His 2005 memoir “Tab Hunter Confidential” went to number one on the New York Times best-sellers list and a documentary about his life was a big hit several years ago.

Now, Tab is the subject of a forthcoming photo exhibition by photographer Michael Freeby, which will be presented by the Museum of Digital Art in Los Angeles, the EyeBeam Museum in New York City, and a special event in London.
