If you aren’t familiar with Leah Lewis, you should! She Netflix’s latest leading lady from the endearing teen romance, The Half Of It, which currently scores an overwhelmingly positive 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Alice Wu-directed film tells the story of Ellie Chu (Lewis), a shy, straight-A, friendless Chinese-American high school senior who makes extra cash by writing papers for her fellow classmates. When she reluctantly agrees to help football jock Paul Munsky (Daniel Diemer) pen love letters for his crush, Aster Flores (Alexxis Lemire), the girl Ellie secretly crushes on, the unlikely trio embark on an unconventional love triangle.

The 23-year-old Chinese-American actress gives an incredible performance and you’ll be seeing her talent, comic skills and hilarious personality a lot more in the future. Check out the 10 fun facts she had to share with Just Jared:

1. I enjoy writing poetry and raps. When I can’t make a song on the guitar, I’ll sample a track and just drop my thoughts into rhythm pockets.
2. If I wasn’t an actress/singer, I would want to be a writer or a journalist.
3. I am a die hard Beatles and John Mayer fan. Everybody who knows me, knows what that’s all about.
4. I get really invested in nature shows, take nature’s cycles very personally and feel for weaker animals. HA.

Daniel, a handsome but soulful 23-year-old 6-foot-four Canadian actor, opened up to Just Jared about his favorite scenes from THOI, his favorite Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande songs to jam out to, and how he’s been spending his time during quarantine. Check it:

JJ: How did you get into acting? Have you taken any acting classes or coaching?

DD: I got into acting through a friend of mine in high school. She asked me and another friend if I wanted to skip English class to model for her art class. The art teacher introduced me to her son, a director, did a project for him and fell in love with it. I did one year of acting school and another year of part time acting classes after that.

JJ: How did you hear about THOI? Anything memorable happen at the audition, chemistry read, first table read?

DD: I got sent the audition from my managers in LA, and taped for the project from Vancouver a few times before coming down for the chemistry read. The most memorable part of that read was how quickly Leah and I became friends and connected. She’s amazing.

The Half of It just got a new trailer!

The upcoming film, set to be released on Netflix on May 1, was written and directed by Alice Wu.

Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer, Alexxis Lemire, Enrique Murciano, Wolfgang Novogratz, Catherine Curtin, Becky Ann Baker and Collin Chou all star in the movie.

“So here I am, staring down the barrel of mid-life, having just made a movie about teenagers. Now that it’s done, I can see a few things more clearly. For one: I used to think there was only one way to love. That A plus B minus C equals Love. Now that I’m older, I see there are more. So many more ways to love than I had ever imagined,” the director said.

Here’s a plot summary: bookish introvert Ellie Chu is perfectly content with her life: watching old movies with her widowed father and ghostwriting papers for her high school classmates to help pay the bills. But her side gig turns personal when lovelorn jock Paul Munsky (Diemer) hires her to craft love notes to Aster Flores (Lemire) — a smart, popular girl out of both their leagues… and Ellie’s own secret crush. Just as the duo’s plan begins to work, a new wrinkle emerges: Ellie and Paul have fallen into a deep friendship neither could have anticipated, giving rise to a surprising love triangle. .
