Shaggy is getting candid about his upcoming performance in The Little Mermaid Live!

The 51-year-old musician spoke to reporters about the role at the Television Critics Association ahead of tonight’s premiere of The Little Mermaid Live! on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

“To be honest with you, it’s me trying to wrap my head around the whole thing right now because I’m still learning. This is something new, this animation into live. I think it’s just singing the song and making it my own and making it be as entertaining and believable to you. That’s my main thing. That’s where my head is at,” he said.

“With Sebastian, he’s bringing so much positivity. He’s encouraging Ariel. These are things, when you look at your life, you always have these things happen. There’s good and there’s the evil, there’s relationship. Everybody can relate to relationship and love and everybody got that one friend, that one person who’s rooting for them. And that one that has your back and keeps your secrets, or may not.”

Queen Latifah is ready to be Ursula!

The 49-year-old entertainer opened up about participating in The Little Mermaid Live! on Good Morning America prior to the live event, which airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

“I had done a photoshoot for Disney a few years back where Annie Leibowitz shot me as Ursula. So when this popped up, it was like, OK, a TV production. Alright…once they explained to me the way that they wanted to do it, I thought it was interesting.”

“They’re going to literally show the movie in front of a live audience of at least 500 people. And then when it comes to musical performances, it’s going to cut to the live performance of those songs and then it’ll go back into the movie and the audience will take part in it and be participants in the actual performance of it. They’ll be under the sea with us,” she went on to say.

Graham Phillips is ready to make Prince Eric a more dynamic character.

The 26-year-old Riverdale star is set to hit the stage tonight during The Little Mermaid Live! on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Graham recently opened up about the experience, as well as how he plans to play Prince Eric, in an interview with Playbill.

“Even though Little Mermaid is in front of a camera, it’s live, so there’s no room for pussyfooting around. You really have to commit,” he explained.

“In the film [Prince Eric]’s such a blank slate; he doesn’t even sing. Getting to learn these new songs and understand his perspective a little more was very cool,” he said.

He also said that the role has inspired him to return to theater.

“For quite a while I’ve felt like something was missing, and I’ve realized that it’s singing, so my sights are definitely set on getting back on Broadway. I’ve been missing it for a long time.”

John Stamos is ready to portray Chef Louis!

The 56-year-old Fuller House star is set to appear on The Little Mermaid Live!, airing tonight (November 5) on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Ahead of the live musical event’s premiere, John revealed that his new role as Chef Louis has already made quite an impression on his 18-month-old son, Billy.

“I’m rehearsing my number, kind of for the first time on stage, and all I can hear is ‘Dada, dada, dada, dada, dada!’ Dad is gonna fall off the table if you don’t shut up, kid,” he amusingly told ET at the red carpet premiere.

Who else is excited for The Little Mermaid Live?!

The upcoming musical television special is airing tonight (Tuesday, November 5) on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

The event will include a mixture of the film being projected on a giant surface and live musical performances from the film and Broadway stage versions from acts like Auli’i Cravalho as Princess Ariel and Queen Latifah as Ursula.
