The series finale of The Undoing airs on Sunday night and fans will likely be wondering if a second season will ever happen.

HBO launched the new Nicole Kidman project as a six-episode limited series and additional seasons are unlikely to happen. Her other HBO series Big Little Lies was also supposed to be a limited series, but it was given a second season.

Director Susanne Bier explained the reasoning for keeping the show contained to just one season.

“This is a tight story, which is why I think six hours is perfect. There’s something about six that has a natural arc,” she told EW.

Nicole added, “It’s not like a drama series where you’re not quite sure how they’re going to evolve and you have a next season. That’s why I say it’s like cinema, because you have a beginning, middle, and end. The thing about a limited series is it’s so difficult because you’re writing a much longer form of cinema that you have to keep people engaged in, and in some ways that’s so much harder. That, as an actor, is delicious.”

The sixth and final episode of the limited series, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, will debut on Sunday night (November 29).

The episode will air at 9pm EST on HBO and it’s expected to debut at that same exact time on the streaming service HBO Max. So, fans on the west coast will get to watch it at the same time: 6pm PST!

The Undoing focuses on Kidman’s Grace Fraser, a successful therapist, and her devoted husband, Jonathan (Grant), and their young son who attends an elite private school in New York City. A chasm opens in Grace’s seemingly perfect life: a violent death, a missing spouse, and a chain of terrible revelations.

“There is a slight nightmare fairytale aspect to the show,” Nicole told Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, ‘I’m just going to have one coat and walk around in this coat?’”

“I’m in the coat and then the coat became a part of me. That’s what a filmmaker does,” Nicole added about the show’s director Susanne Bier. “They choose visually how to express things, and the coat is iconic. In a way, it is the through-line of the whole series. It protects me but it’s also my identity. It’s got so many layers to it. It’s my barrier and my shield from the world, but it also envelops me. It’s interesting how [Susanne] uses that.”

Three episodes have aired so far and three more remain. The show airs on Sunday nights on HBO.

Nicole Kidman is in New York City filming her upcoming series The Undoing!

The 51-year-old actress and her co-star Ismael Cruz Cordova were spotted filming scenes for the HBO limited series on Thursday (March 28).

Cordova is best known for his recent role in Miss Bala, opposite Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez. He will play Fernando Alves in the highly-anticipated series, which is based on the novel “You Should Have Known.”

The Undoing follows a successful therapist who is preparing for the publication of her first book when a violent death and her husband’s sudden disappearance force her to start over and build a new life for herself and her young son.

Noah is best known for his work in the films Wonder and A Quiet Place.
