Dianna Agron: GLAAD About Glee

Dianna Agron is red hot in Temperley Londonat the 2010 GLAAD Media Awards held at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza on Saturday (April 17) in Century City, Calif.

During the ceremony, the cast of Glee accepted the award for Outstanding Comedy series.

“We have so much love for our own Chris Colfer, who at age 19 when the media came calling, Chris was true to who he is instead of waiting to announce (that he’s gay) at 40 when it doesn’t matter,” series creator Ryan Murphy said. “This show is about arts education and inclusion, and we are using the show in a great way.

Added Ryan, “Chris’ character will never be the victim. [Next year, his out character] will have a boyfriend, and they are going to be prom kings and be popular.”

Earlier in the day, Dianna continued to knock it out of the fashion ball park in Amanda Wakeley at the 2010 TV Land Awards at Sony Studios in Culver City. On April 12, she donned silver Amanda Wakeley at the Glee spring premiere soiree held at Bar Marmon. She accessorized with Juicy Couture‘s button shower earrings.

    Glee is a pathetic show

  • Ms Anonymous

No need to take a shot at Ricky Martin, that’s just retarded. It doesn’t matter wen you come out, and coming out at any age is important.

  • ??

@Ms Anonymous: Who took a shot at Ricky Martin? Huh?

  • melu

cant believe how beautiful she is! and i can wait for The power of Madonna episode this tuesday. Conrgats glee for the GLAAD award.

  • Astrid Helene

    She’s so beautiful!

I’m sorry but Glee has done stuff for the gay community but not nearly as much as Ugly Betty has done – especially in the final season. I know Ugly Betty has been honored like twice at by GLADD but they really should be props for this year.

    dianna argon is so gorgeous.

@Ms Anonymous:Sorry but I 100% agree with the Ryan Murphy quote. Ricky Martin spent his entire adult life singing about girls & portraying himself as a total womanizer. Then now, at the age of 40, just before his Tour and promoting his memoirs, now, at a time when his name had been long out of the public eye, & when his his career was in total shutdown – a time when it really DIDN’T matter — he had absolutely nothing to lose, and fame + more to re-gain ——– he finally, ‘came out’. If you’re denying the fact that a kid like Chris who was 100% true to who he is from the start despite what he had to go through in school, despite what others might think about him in his career – is not BRAVER and more admirable than a grown adult who took 40 YEARS to ‘come out’, you need your bias checked. I respect people who are honest right from the get-go SO much more. And people like Ellen who came out at the height of her sucess and show – and had to go through Hell and ridicule and outrage and media stories claiming her gay would ruin her career forever, but she made it out and is much stronger for it. THAT is admirable strength.

  • ugh.

    She is so gorgeous :)

I think Dianna Agron is absolutely gorgeous. She has the face of an angel!

I agree that Chris is braver in terms of coming out when he was a teenager instead of waiting till he’s 40. But I also think that the gay community has thankfully come a long way in the last 20 years and there are more support systems now for people who come out than there was 20 years ago.

Having said that, I don’t dispute for a minute that Chris had to go through hell while in school. It’s still very difficult for gays and lesbians to come out, especially during high school. I don’t know if it’ll ever become easier, you’d hope so.

In terms of GLAAD, I agree that Ugly Betty was very deserving to be recognized! They didn’t just have the token gay guy on the show, but they actually had him have a life and boyfriends. And, admireably, they showed a young man growing up on the show who would later be gay and his struggle with it and coming out, which is so important.

However, I wouldn’t undermine the contribution of GLEE. I think the character of Kurt is marvelous and they are fleshing him out as a person who is not just flamboyant, but has to struggle in a straight world. And I’m excited that he will have a boyfriend next season!

  • Kaylyn

She’s gorgeous. Love her. Love Glee.

  • J.

It’s a step but a TINY one. There have been tons of gay potrayals like Kurt’s over the years- his character is so cliched. They lighten his scenes with humor. While I respect the actor, when are writers/producers going to show some real struggle and diversity like in the real world? Just ONE example: there are so many gay sportsmen who are shi–t scared of coming out because of their career choice. There are so many types of gay men just like there are so many types of straight men. Same thing goes for lesbian portrayals. When was the last time U.S TV showed some real footage of what young closeted lesbians have to deal with instead of glamourizing it into p0rn for men?

  • I N F A M O U S L Y C O O L

@J.: you have a good point but what you said about lesbian portrayals, “the L word,” is a great portrayal of gay women and same goes for queer as folk it shows the different types of homosexuals, not just the flamboyant ones often depicted. i’m just happy that we do see more gay relations and aspects of gay culture in the media, ala adam lambert, Xtina aguilera (shes not gay but said she appreciates bisexuality), lady gaga, and the one and only madonna, just like 30 years ago we started to see an emergence of black culture with michael and janet jackson and of course whitney houston, just ot name a few.
