David Arquette, Julia Stiles & Gabrielle Union: Casting News!

David Arquette is teaming up with Portia de Rossi and Malin Akerman for ABC’s comedy pilot The Smart One.

The show centers around “a brilliant and successful woman (de Rossi) who has to go work for her less brainy but more popular sister (Akerman) – a former beauty queen, weather girl, and now big-city mayor,” Deadline reports, adding that David will play Malin‘s husband.

Julia Stiles, meanwhile, is headed to NBC for its drama pilot Midnight Sun. She’ll play a FBI cult specialist leading the investigation on the disappearance of a group living on a cult-like commune in Alaska.

Also on NBC, Jamie-Lynn Sigler has signed on for Jimmy Fallon‘s pilot DILFs – a comedy about three 30-something guys enjoying the adventures of parenting even though they haven’t grown up themselves.

Over at BET, Gabrielle Union will take the lead role in Single Black Female playing the host of a popular Atlanta-based talk show.

ARE YOU EXCITED to see David, Julia, Gabrielle, and Jamie-Lynn in their pilots?

Julia’s show sounds like it could be great – but it’s on NBC. It would work better on a cable network.
