Hugh Grant: 'I Like My Daughter Very Much'

Hugh Grant attends the UK premiere of The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists on Wednesday (March 21) at the Mayfair Hotel in London, England.

The 51-year-old actor recently revealed the name of his baby daughterTabitha – during an interview with The Guardian.

“Lots of people warned me … [that] the baby period is not that exciting. But I am excited, actually. I thought, well, I’ll bluff through – but very little bluffing has been required,” Hugh told the paper. “I like my daughter very much. Fantastic.”

As for the girl’s mother, Tinglan Hong, “She is a good person, a nice person; funny, clever, great mother,” Hugh shared. “And she’s been very badly treated by the media.”

Now that is something you will never hear Marc Anthony say about his daughter Emme. Ben Affleck declares it often enough about his own beautiful daughters.

  • BEAN

@Casper Smart: Well hopefully. A bit awkward when you hear a man says he LIKES his daughter.

  • Luiza

…. I guess you suppose to LOVE HER, Hugh…

  • Kate

Hugh only likes her because he knows the baby’s mother is a golddigger who trapped him into fatherhood.

  • Camden

Like? Like? ….well that’s might big of you Hugh. Let us know when you start to “Love” her.

  • Ellie

When we see Hugh with his daughter carrying her around London!
Saying is one thing but doing it is another!

As for Casper Smart what do you mean you r not related to her kids
Nor do we see you with her son just her daughter. Y Ben Affleck
    Eh. Comment man..

  • Ellie

I think you should have mentioned David Tennant was at the premier, because he’s amazing :)

  • Yokio

I can’t believe he just said that…. Oh I “LIKE” my daughter. Uhh.. interesting. Don’t let daddy near the baby!

  • Amanda

Well that’s very nice that he likes his daughter. Most people love their daughters, but apparently he makes his kid work for his love. What an ass.

  • RoseS

I think its pretty cute, putting it like that. :) Charming.

  • R

Oh Good Lord! Hugh…really? Sadly, i’m not surprised. #smh

  • Cher

I think it’s the British in Hugh. They’re not like American’s with free love and all. I should know my mother is the same way and is herself British.

  • NYC

What a disaster this guy is. He’s one of my favorite actors of all time but the guy has no class. His characters are nothing like him.
He totally blew it with Liz Hurley, then again with Jemma Khan and now this baby after a fling. The guy is gross.
Glad he’s not my problem, yuck.

  • Jo

I agree, but I don’t think it’s just British. I’m not British but also European and I can tell that in some European countries people are much more reserved with declaring love than Americans. It’s something you feel but you don’t go and tell everybody who you love and why. This word “love” is sometimes really hard to say, even if it’s obvious like love for your child. We prefer to just show it and not to talk about it that much.

  • Ellgy

English people aren’t all sickly sweet about their emotions like American people. Of course he loves his daughter. You’ve got to understand the English sense of humour.

  • Kaylee

@Jo: I agree. Im british, and I have to say alot of men, esp of his generation simply don’t gush, certainly not in public. He’s always been quite private and perhaps this is no exception. there are actors who NEVER talk of their private life/children and nobody says they dont love them so this is really little different. and besides, its nobodies business anyway!

  • Amy Lin

He’s going to treat his daughter like Strom Thurmond! Only he told the public!
