Wow…Striesands performance was the worse of the the evening…she could not hit those high notes…her voice was raspy…she was singing in a very low key…Now The Performance of The Night was…..Dame Shirley Bassey…..Blew those other so called singers right outta the water..including Adele!

No, she didn’t hit the high notes, but this was a very beautiful, affecting performance. I like Barbra vulnerable better than invincible. Her delivery matched the words, her phrasing was exquisite and the communication was heartfelt. This is a great torch song that has been ignored in recent years, maybe because everyone felt Barbra Streisand owned it. She gave it an entirely different read in this performance.

If I was going to write a play about a star story it would start from “that” Oscar moment… It doesn’t’ matter if the Voice is getting older and shaky (singing for a dead friend and listed to sing after all the losses of the year it should be older and shaky), it doesn’t matter if it carries those ringcles from the time passing by, from memories passing by, the Lady comes out to the planet to sing for a friend in a cynical time, to salute an era… An icon of an entire century (and what a century it was!) It doesn’t matter how it sounds in microphone but in the souls of the fans, (the best in the world when you see their devotion) as she has evolved into a kind of a collective dream “come true” for the underprivileged in any way in our cultural endeavor… It’s the Hero with the 1000 faces all over again. The pattern, the orphan who suceeds. (and God bless the child that gots his –her own) The ugly duckly turns into a beatifull not just in surface swan just because the heck of it!…. just for the “journey” never seize to exist. Challenging everything or in fac t most of what we knew about femininity, activism, beatty, and culture! It doesn’t matter how old is the face she looks at when make up is removed. She carries the perpetual youth of humanity: Talent. And the capacity to use it for the best. That’s why she is the America we love in the rest of the world. It doesn’t matter if everything is half true and half illusion like everything in life. The Lady comes out to perform and she is an Artist, so she allways tells the “Truth”: Even when she “lies”.. You see it was real when it happened. And blessed so much! That’s why what happened all these decades it will be here for ever. And yet respecting that forever, a part of her may know, must know, the tough but usefull : Perhaps (just perhaps!) its time to control and transcend that interactive of needs between her and her fans and retire (from the stage only!) to be remember as what she was: a legend.
If I was going to write a play about a star story it would start from “that” Oscar moment… Princess Cosmonopoly (tenesse…) Thank u!

Barbra is in her own class. She didn’t belt out “The Way We Were” like a showstopper. She sang it as an wistfully emotional Tribute to Marvin Hamlish (who has described her as having the greatest voice in the world) giving genuine truth to each word in a burnished, creamy voice. She didn’t belt, shriek, or shout.Give me Streisand any day over any of the other singers on this year’s oscars. Streisand defines Legend.
