Paul Walker's Death: 'Fast & Furious 7' Delayed, Film Will Still Happen

Paul Walker‘s tragic death shook the world on Saturday evening (November 30), and many wondered what would happen to his upcoming flick Fast & Furious 7.

According to THR, Universal and the team behind Fast & Furious 7 met early Sunday (December 1) to discuss the fate of the film. The team ultimately decided to delay shooting, which was scheduled to return on Sunday in Atlanta after the Thanksgiving holiday. However, the film will reportedly continue.

Paul was set to reprise his role on Fast 7 as Brian O’Conner.

The cast of Fast & Furious 7, including Paul, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and more, were spotted filming together earlier in the month.

I think for fans’ sake they should still release it. Especially since it’s finished shooting. But, I hope they don’t continue making more F & F films after this one. That would just be wrong. No one could replace Paul in that lead role.

@ ale Why on Earth should they have to cancel F&F7? So that his work on this one should go to garbage?? HELL NO!! They should continue filming and stop at no.7. Fast and Furious will not be the same without him. I, as a Paul’s fan, would like to see his latest work and i’m curious how the movie will end. Still can’t believe Paul died in what he loved the most…a speed car and so young… Rest in peace, gorgeous….you will be so much missed :(

@ale: Why? There are more people working. Paul’s death was tragic but the world does not end.

If the film has been completed other than few reshoots I say continue on. I’m sure they’ll rework the ending however, the question is how they handle Paul’s character. I don’t see this being the last one, especially if it makes more money than the last film. Studios only care for a moment but ultimately money is their focus. The only way the franchise will end is if Diesel and others say no more. They already have filmed a F&F without Walker once and if I remember correctly Diesel as well. Even though they are the main characters trust me they will rework the character story line and film another only if the money train is good. Again, I doubt Diesel and others will bow out of their only consistent pay check so quickly. They will see it as honoring Paul’s F&F legacy.

    We’ll soon see.

I’m glad they are continuing but I have no idea how I’m going to watch it without thinking of him. He brought so much to these films and is truly irreplaceable. I know they wanted to make more movies past 7 but I just think they should try to wrap it up now.

I can’t imagine anyone else playing Brian O’Connor. Brian was as much a part of Paul as Paul was of Brian. Physically Chace Crawford could pass for Paul, but even then it would be “Chace Crawford playing Paul Walker’s part” rather than “Chace playing Brian”.

Whoever they choose will still be known as the guy who played Paul Walker’s part. Paul owns it at this point; you can’t really separate the actor from the character anymore.

I don’t know how far along Paul was in filming his role in FF7, but I would like to hope it was far enough for him to still be in the film as a final sendoff in his honor. I think you guys are being a little naive if you think they’re going to cancel the franchise though. FF6 grossed over 700 million dollars at the box office, FF7 will have a decent shot at a billion. There is no way they would cancel such a profitable franchise. I’m positive they won’t recast Brian O’ Connor. He’s not like a Batman or James Bond who can be played by different actors, that’s all Paul Walker. So either O’Connor’s death will be written into FF7 or happen offscreen between FF7 and FF8. The franchise definitely will not be the same without him and he’ll be greatly missed, but I think the franchise can still have legs with The Rock, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster.

It should be completed in Paul’s memory then they should call the franchise a day. At least 3 more were in the pipeline. RIP PW.

They could add a new character related to Paul’s character. Maybe a 20 something son no one knew about, a long lost brother or nephew. It’s Hollywood they will find a way.

    Mason Says:

Oh for f-sake. Stop making any more FF movies. They’re nothing but stupid story plots and dumb dialogue.

RIP Paul. We will forever miss you.
As for F&F, Paul would want them to finish the journey they all started. It will probably be rewritten into the script, perhaps in a post credit scene as a setup for 8. The story needs to be finished and you know Vin will want to be sure its made for him.

R.I.P Paul you are one of God’s greatest angels now. U will forever be i our hearts. And i think you should proceed with the movie. He worked hard for it and we will always remember him. All the best to Paul’s loved ones. He is safe in God’s arms now.
