Usher Defends Justin Bieber After Leaked Racist Remarks

Usher took to Instagram to address Justin Bieber‘s racist comments in recently leaked videos!

“At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continues effort. As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist,” the 35-year-old singer shared.

Usher added, “What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs. What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”

    Is Usher ok?

    Emma Says:

Usher must have been high when he wrote that. Or he is the only person on the planet that thinks Justin is a good person.

    Roberta Says:

Oh Usher!!! It’s funny that he wrote that Justin was a naive child 5 years ago. Well, he seems to be the same 5 years later…

    Nona Says:

He needs to distance himself from this talentless tool!

Black people need to get together and announce whether every white person in this country is a racist or not — once and for all!
No bribery or in-knd contributions allowed.

I may not like Bieber all that much, but I agree with Usher on this. 5 years is a long time, especially when you’re 14-15 and 19-20. I don’t know what he’s like now though.

All I’m reading is “Please don’t stop buying his music because I need more money to buy a new jet and a bigger mansion”

    Roberta Says:

@Liz: But, have you seen Bieber’s actions lately? Do you really think that he has changed?

    D Says:

    @leelee:

Me, too! But what I got from it was “I have a lot of money riding on this little sh*t. SO, if you like me — and I can stand him — support me and please ignore his dumb-ass, ignorant remarks he made as a teenager.” :-)

    Pinkrose Says:

Justin was stupid, dumb and ignorant as a 15 year old. Justin is still stupid, dumb and ignorant at 19 years old. Maybe even more so. He is definitely richer and more misguided. Don’t know if at his core he is a racist.

    troll Says:

@leelee: You got that right! This kid still acts like a kid he’s far from a role model.

    Isabel Says:

How can Usher support growth when it’s clear that Bieber doesn’t act a day over 15?

    someguy Says:

Imho just some very normal and sane comment about the whole thing.

It’s just there are so many users trying to create fake “hate” about him but I’m sure, no on genuinely cares about what Justin Bieber did like 5 years ago. I’m sure the internet PR machine will never get tired of any celebrity saying anything…

    Black Person here Says:

People need to stop acting like ALL black people think alike and stop thinking we all have to feel a certain way about a particular issue. Im not a fan of Justin Beebs but I also don’t think he’s a racist and don’t think he’s evil. Does he need to grow up? Yes but nobody is perfect. If you’ve never said anything mean to anyone in your life then don’t go throwing stones. I wish him the best. Stacey Dash joined Fox News. I think that’s the most dumbest thing ever but I have to respect the girl for sticking to her convictions regardless of what anyone thinks. Finally, lets get away from the culture of putting people away just because they say a “Bad Word” and lets try to move into compassion and understanding of where someone is coming from . Good for Usher!

    Liz Says:

@Roberta: No I haven’t been paying much attention to him, but did a google search on him now and he still appears to be ignorant and immature. So in most cases what a person did 5 years ago would not apply today, but with this kid it certainly does.

  16. 16
    Roberta Says:

@Black Person here: I agree with you, but we live in a world that crucifies people for using that word. SO, if Paula Deen lost all of her sponsors and was crucified by the media, I don’t see why people shouldn’t hold Justin to the same standards. They both used that word, and Justin did it worse by joking about it and the kkk, so, I’ll no cut him any slack. He was 14/15, he was old enough to know better.

  17. 17
    Wow Says:

Losing so much respect from Usher. I guess he’s just not rich enough, and still wants to hold onto the Bieber machine.

    offtheproperty Says:

@Black Person here: I don’t respect anyone as much as the black Americans who are grateful for the chances that they have had in life, in America — the only country that has ever fought a terrible Civil War — TO END SLAVERY.
Millions of people are slaves today in Africa, Asia and the Arab world.

  19. 19
    Black Person here Says:

@Roberta: well I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on the cutting of slack. Glad to see so many black people come out to support him. Tired of this making people go away for saying a word nonsense. This wont bring JB down but his continuous actions like DIU might if he doesn’t change, which to me is way more serious. Wish him the best….And Paula Deen PRACTICED racism for decades. If you read some of the way she treated her black employees it was like Jim Crow days. JB has nothing on Paula….

    Jenna Says:

@Black Person here: Yes, all black people do NOT think alike, because I’m black and 110% disagree with you. My family raised me to know that word was wrong before I was even in the second grade. I probably watched every movie and read every book about black history before middle school. I knew the weight of the words and of the actions, and by 14 years old I for certain knew the dangers and ignorance behind THAT word. Bieber may be white and from Canada and didn’t get the same history lessons I did, but the fact that he brought the K KK into his little “tune” and the way he used it, he wasn’t stupid in his knowledge of the history, relation and weight…however, he was stupid enough to use it. There is a HUGE difference between saying something “mean” and hurting someone’s feelings and then using something so colossally powerful as THAT word, THAT situation. There are certain things you don’t say to people and that is one of them. There are things in people’s lives and American history that you don’t joke about. If Bieber joked about 9/11..would that be taken as “oh he was young”? Or because it affects a wide variety of people, would be taken more seriously? I don’t think so, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. There are lines you shouldn’t cross and he crossed that one big time and Usher is an idiot for defending. There is nothing about Bieber’s behavior even in recent months that shows that he has grown up at all and I find it VERY hard to believe he doesn’t use that word around his friends to this day. Stacey Dash is a bonafide idiot so I’m not going to applaud her for anything. Just because someone is black doesn’t mean I agree with everything they say or do. There is ignorance in every race and Stacey Dash has proven her own ignorance many times. But, this situation is about Bieber, and I’m sorry, but I have zero compassion and understanding from where Bieber was coming from and, in turn, for Usher as well. Bieber joked around friends who told him “don’t say it”, they were his age too…and they knew.

    J Says:

@offtheproperty: The Black Americans who should be GRATEFUL for the CHANCES they have in America? You must be joking. First of all, you need to understand that every black person in America didn’t even have family that came from slavery. Second of all, you act as if the Africans who were enslaved did something wrong, got punished and should be grateful that America let them off the hook and that everything they get now is given to them for “good behavior”. They’re not toddlers who had a time out and got to watch TV an extra hour on a school night for good behavior. Slaves were thankful when slavery ended because they shouldn’t have been slaves in the first place. But people who get up everyday, go to work, take care of their families and live honest lives like every other race in America don’t need to be “grateful for their chances” to anyone else but the God they believe in… whether they’re black or white..OR BOTH. When I get my paycheck I sure don’t say “oh thank you to white America for giving me this chance”. I’m black, I didn’t come from Africa, and I have every right to be in this country as much as the next American. Slavery ended in America, but racism is clearly still alive and in motion.

    offtheproperty Says:

@J: You are full of hatred. You are simply, hatred. See you at the Civil War.

  23. 23
    J Says:

@offtheproperty: That’s not hatred in the least. You’re just ignorant. I don’t hate anyone or any race nor am I prejudice to anyone or any race, I just feel that it was totally ignorant of you to think black people should thank white America for “our chances in life”. Slaves should’ve never been slaves in the first place. It was HATE that made them slaves. PEOPLE deserve to be treated equally and I thank my blessings and chances to God, not to white America.

The higher you fly, the harder you fall. Those remarks will haunt Bieber until the day he dies. Hope he enjoyed his 15 minutes. Bieber is done. Nuff said.

It’s ok, pukes. Not a problem to use the “N” word if you are one. Good thing he wasn’t held at gun point in a bank robbery decades ago and used it on someone who he befriended and gave a job to. Poor Paula for not having a friend like Usher.
