Maggie Gyllenhaal Is Trying to Keep Her Personal Politics Out of the Press

Maggie Gyllenhaal steps out looking so summer chic on Thursday (August 7) in New York City.

The 36-year-old actress recently said that she will not comment on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the press. Her new show The Honourable Woman centers around a woman working to promote the reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians

“What I’ve been doing is trying to read as much as I can and to think and feel each day what my position is,” Maggie told Time. “I’m not sure that I will continue to feel this way as this conflict continues, but at the moment I feel like the show I made, the piece of art I made, does articulate really beautifully so many things I feel about the conflict. And I’m trying to keep my personal politics out of the press. I do believe in the possibility of reconciliation.”

There’s only one morally right side to take — that of civilization.
Israel is fighting for all of us, alone, without even our thanks.
Ill-informed sympathy with the perennial antagonists of islam is a fraud against yourself.

How is it morally right to bomb schools and hospitals and kill thousands of innocent Palestinians, including so many children? How is morally right to build illegal settlements and steal land? These is nothing moral about what the Israeli government does to the Palestinians but thanks for the propaganda anyway.

Clearly she is against the needless slaughter of Women and Children ?
If she wants to work she has to keep her mouth shut.

The Honourable Woman is a story that features some “baddies” and some “very-baddies”: the question of the personal political preferences of the actors playing these characters simply does not arise. Unfortunately, she is just not very good in a piece that is altogether poorly edited or unevenly scripted. And because I know she is terrifically talented, I can only blame the director. I suspect she might too in time … Truth is I suspect her own intense desire to play it with integrity might just have got in the way of her talent this time around.

The very fact that she has been oblivious as to the calamity of what has happened is STARTLING and horrifying. How did she take part in such a project and not even know what was going on?! What else did she and others in her circle take for face value and on the word of intellectually dishonest people? Oh how horrifying the very concept.

Well she’s awake now and that is important. Instead of being delusional she’s taking the high ground and doing her homework – commendable and quite impressive.

If she is reading I would suggest the following authors:

    works of:
    Henry Siegman
    Miko Peled
    Ilan Pappe
Max Blumenthal’s Goliath : Life and Loathing in Greater Israel
    Gideon Levy
    Gilas Atzmon
    Neve Gordon
    Noam Chomsky

Also if she wants to learn more from those who have been to gaza and are active members of the Jewish community who have seen both sides she can follow Jewish Voice for Peace. See whether or not they fit what she s looking for. They are the most brave and most honorable people I have ever met.

A thought provoking sense and style in contrast to current settlements.
