Amal Alamuddin Will Serve on the UN's Gaza Human Rights Commission

Amal Alamuddin has been appointed to serve on a new three-member commission for the United Nations to look into Israel’s possible violations of the rules of war in Gaza.

The London-based international law specialist is engaged to George Clooney and will serve alongside Senegal’s Doudou Diene and Canada’s William Schaba.

Navi Pillay
, the UN high commissioner for human rights, says that Israel’s airstikes could amount to war crimes in Gaza.

“There are just a few examples where there seems to be a strong possibility that international humanitarian law has been violated, in a manner that could amount to war crimes,” Pillay said.
