Jennifer Lawrence Will Never Join Social Media Because 'the Internet Has Scorned Me So Much'

Don’t expect to find Jennifer Lawrence on social media anytime soon – she’s very against joining up on Twitter, Instagram, and other sites.

“I will never get Twitter,” the 24-year-old Hunger Games star said on Nick Grimshaw‘s BBC 1 radio show while making an appearance with Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. “I’m not very good on phone or technology.I cannot really keep up with emails so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me.”

“I don’t really understand what it is. It’s like this weird enigma that people talk about. It’s fine, I respect that, but no, I’ll never get a Twitter,” she added.

“If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that says it’s me, it most certainly is not,” Jennifer said. “I really like laser focused [on that answer]…it’s because the internet has scorned me so much that I feel like it’s that girl in high school that I’m like, ‘Oh you want to talk about her? Yeah I’ll do that!’ Take my hoops off, I’m ready to go.”

FYI: Josh is wearing Creative Recreation shoes in the video.

No one ask you or even wants you to join the internet in fact we’re all sick of you Jennifer your nasty face, makeup and terrible dresses you always wear.

SM is a great way for “celebs” to be in contact with their fans, get off your high horse JLAw.

  • SquidBillie

She just needs to stop talking.

  • Courtney

She has her own reasons for wanting to stay off social media. This isn’t new with her. When she was promoting Silver Linings Playbook, she said that the Internet and social media weren’t good for her. She doesn’t read or buy into her own press. She’s just stating that she doesn’t feel the need to post her private life on the Internet. After the nude photo incident, I don’t blame her a bit for not wanting to be a part of it! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to defend your private life. Also, she’s great with her fans when doing promotion work for her films! Even during time off, she would give fans a wave or sign something for them on the street. She appreciates her fans, as long as they’re respectful of her.

  • VanityInsecurity

lol. give fans a wave? I think being a public figure.. you should be in the public more..do you think she wanted to be an actress just for the sake of acting or because of fame & fans? wake up.

  • Courtney

Have you not read her recent interview? She wants to be an actress for acting’s sake. She sees it as a job, but she doesn’t want her private life made public (the fame part). You can still try to keep your private life intact and yet have a job that requires you to go public at times. It’s called balancing lives and so far, she’s pretty good at it.

Although the photo hack was unfortunate, and the Internet may continue to “scorn” her, I find it a little odd when celebrities/actors say “I didn’t sign up for this.” A-list actors get paid millions, with the understanding that they end up having to sacrifice certain things, like privacy. It’s not fair, but it’s just how the world works. But JLaw has already made millions, and she – like many other A-list actor – could easily live off of that money for the rest of their lives, not work another day in their lies, step away from the public eye, and eventually stop being victim to the Internet that “scorns” them. Fame can come quickly, but it can fade just as fast.

If they choose to keep working and being a public figure, it’s not because they are some single mother struggling to feed her children on a minimum wage job. No one is forcing them to continue to being an actor and remain a public figure. They continue to work because they choose to, because they want to. And they are acutely aware of what comes with the territory. If they value their privacy over their career, then they can give up their career. If they choose to continue with their career, then at some point they have to decide to put up with the bullsh*t, and stop playing victim and publicly whining about how the Internet has “scorned” them. Because people get tired of hearing that really fast.

I think she’s a good actress but the hype surrounding her is mostly run by the Social Media PR machine and you can not help but ask how much longer until people get tired of the show?

  • TeamBella76

I love her but would you guys not put up everything she has to say ? I know it get’s hits and some from losers who need more happiness in their lives.

  • TeamBella76

What are you talking about she’s doing promotion for Mockingjay ! She’s not just going to talk about the movie. If you don’t like it get lost.

  • TeamBella76

What high horse ? It’s an opinion. It’s people like you and the loser before who sit behind their computers picking on celebs who are actually decent GO COMMENT ON ANOTHER BOARD !

  • vn_102

Not good with tech but expert on sending tons of nakey pics to many dudes huh? Such hypocrite overhype chick but nothing special much

  • FerCat

Of course she shouldn’t. If her real personality accidentally comes out, it’ll ruin the illusion.

  • meh

    Thank you Lord.

  • Clara Tezolin

you must be horrible, we’re tired of stupid haters who are just like you!

  • VanityInsecurity

wtf does this have to do with social media & her not wanting to be on it cus she scorned? You can be on SM & still have a private life while connecting with fans.. & not just waving at them..

  • VanityInsecurity

So I’m a loser cause I’m voicing my opinion.. hypocritical no? :)

  • LaCroix

The girl is delusional.. I thought KStew’s fans where pathetic but as it turns out JLaw’s fans are just as fragile.
