Tom Cruise Allegedly Wiretapped Nicole Kidman's Phone & More Revelations From Scientology Doc 'Going Clear'

The documentary Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival over the weekend and the subject of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman‘s marriage was brought up in the film.

There are scenes in the movie showing the 52-year-old actor praising church head David Miscavige and dancing at a Scientology birthday party.

The documentary describes how Tom and Nicole fell in love on the set of their 90s film Days of Thunder. Nicole was considered an enemy because her father was a psychiatrist, and Scientologists do not believe in the profession. As a result, Tom began drifting away from the religion. David set up a plan to get Tom back to the church, including making him paranoid about his relationship.

One member of the church said that Tom requested a wire tap of Nicole‘s phone because there were thoughts she was talking to non-church members about their issues. There’s also rumblings in the film that Tom and Nicole‘s kids, Conner and Isabella, were persuaded by members to turn against their mom.

Nicole and Tom split after 11 years in 2001.
