Brad Pitt Is In Talks to Star in Angelina Jolie's 'Africa'

Brad Pitt is reportedly in negotiations to star in his wife Angelina Jolie‘s upcoming directed film Africa, according to The Wrap!

This would be the third time that the couple would work together on a movie – the other two were By the Sea and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Africa, is a biopic on “Leakey, the famed archaeologist who became a staunch defender of elephants against poachers in Kenya in the late ’80s.”

“I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life, and was taken with Eric’s beautiful script about a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him,” Angelina shared in a statement about the flick last year.

DO YOU WANT Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to team up on another movie?

Brad Pitt in Negotiations to Star in Angelina Jolie’s ‘Africa’ (Exclusive)

Oscar winner Eric Roth wrote Skydance’s biopic of famed archaeologist Richard Leakey

Oscar winner Brad Pitt is in negotiations to play Richard Leakey in Angelina Jolie‘s drama “Africa,” an individual familiar with the Skydance project has told TheWrap.

Skydance declined to comment, while a representative for Pitt did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Pitt and his wife Jolie recently teamed on her third feature as a director, “By the Sea.” They first worked together on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”

Oscar winner Eric Roth (“Forrest Gump”) wrote “Africa,” which is a biopic of Leakey, the famed archaeologist who became a staunch defender of elephants against poachers in Kenya in the late ’80s.

Jolie will reteam with her “Unbroken” cinematographer Roger Deakins on the project, which she’s also producing with Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, as well as Jon Peters. Production could begin as soon as this summer.

“I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life, and was taken with Eric’s beautiful script about a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him,” Jolie said in a statement last September.

While Skydance has a deal with Paramount and “Africa” is expected to wind up there, according to sources, the studio is not currently involved with the project at this time.

Pitt recently starred in and executive produced David Ayer’s WWII tank movie “Fury.” He also served as an executive producer on “Selma” and the upcoming James Franco-Jonah Hill drama “True Story,” which debuted at Sundance this week.

Pitt won an Oscar for producing “12 Years a Slave” and previously worked with Skydance on “World War Z.” He’s represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and attorney Alan Hergott.

  • Go Figure!

They are beginning to remind me of Paul Newman and JoAnne Woodward, whose marriage lasted 50+ years. Hopefully, their love will last that long and they will continue to work together. Brad did say they should be doing everything together. LOL!

  • toastie postie

If this comes to fruition, YIPPEE!

  • Lily

Great news, i hope Brad will co- produce the movie too. They should do every movie together.

  • lurker

    Awesome news

  • julianne

That will be a great role…hopefully, Brad gets it…

  • Love the JoliePitts

Do I want Brad and Angelina to tem up on another movie you ask Jared? Well the answer is “YES!!! YES!! and YES!”

  • Saffron

With Brad starring, it just upped the stakes for Angie and Africa. But, if anyone can take the added pressure, it’s Angie. I am so excited about this.

  • toastie postie

Also Gena Rowlands, who Angelina has always admired, and John Cassavetes. Loved Gloria with Gena Rowlands and directed by her husband. In her introducing speech recently, when Gena Rowlands was honored at the LAFCA, Angelina mentioned the husband and wife relationship.

  • toastie postie

    Yes! Yes!

  • Love the JoliePitts

I agree. And Brad said a long time ago “I only want to work with Angelina, we should be doing everything together!”

    Swoon! :)

  • Tamsin SalemObservedGypsy

OMG LOL! What are two unemployed actors to do, when their careers are all but dead? Why another self financed vanity project, of course. Hysterical, really!! HAHAHAHA!

  • Lily

And Brad has to shave the beard, i am all for it. Lol

  • toastie postie

Definitely agree with you. Sorry, didn’t look at your reply until after I replied yes, yes. Great minds I guess.

  • Seriously

““I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life,”

Africa is not a country. It is many countries with many different cultures.

  • toastie postie

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

  • Love the JoliePitts

You know I feel exactly as you do about this amazing and exciting news.

Let us agree together it will happen and it will be the most Loving experience for both of them to work together again.

  • Love the JoliePitts

I am so glad to read so many people are getting the real message of this inhumane crisis.

“and the world has a moral duty to act”

We cannot stand by and allow this to go on and let it be someone else’s problem. Too many innocent people, especially children, who are our future, are being negatively impacted by this horror.

  • Love the JoliePitts

Yes he did, and I thought what he said was another one of the greatest compliments he could give his wife and mother of his children. The other being when he said “the greatest gift I could give my children is Angelina as their mother.”

And may their marriage and love for each other and “togetherness” last even longer than Paul’s and JoAnne’s.

  • toastie postie

Like I said before, I’m very new to this. Please someone explain to me why certain people, who dislike, almost hate Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt, have the obsessive, intrusive need to post here? And with such hostility? I know this is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Before I’m barked at, I don’t go to sites about Jennifer Ainiston, so I admit I’m not aware of what goes on there and any hostile comments about her. But this hate can’t be good for anyone.

  • Love the JoliePitts

No worries, and no apologies necessary. We will agree on things about the beautiful JPs Love, etc., over and over again. It’s a given. :)

  • Tamsin SalemObservedGypsy

How sad, once upon a time Pitty saved his mistress’ career by giving her the lead in A Mighty Heart, a project picked by the ex wife he betrayed. Now the tables have turned and it’s the fat hasbeen who is clinging to relevancy through a job opportunity that his babymomma is giving him. Isn’t life swell? LMAO!

  • Tamsin SalemObservedGypsy

More proof that they’re worthless on their own. Love it! They’re unemployed and their careers are all but dead, so what are they to do? Why another self financed vanity project, of course! Hysterical, really how they can’t get a job unless they sell themselves as a Brand. Sweet karma for the Dirty Duo.

  • lucy

I wouldn’t usually advocate an actor sleeping with a Director to get a part, but I’ll make an exception for this film. lol

  • SkinnyFat

    oh no another crapfest.

  • toastie postie

    Funny.

  • juju

    angelina doesn’t know that.
the times she has travel to chad, ethiopia, namibia, egipt, tanzania, congo, kenya, marocco etc n she has visited all of those countries
some of these countries more than once
for unhcr work for film work n in vacation
she thought it was the same country ahahahah

    angelina means the whole continent
with all the different countries cultures
in all their differences and similarities

  • Lily

They must have had great time in BTS, they want to work together again

  • valis202

LOL. Hope she makes him work hard to get the part.

  • Kim

Asia and Europe are not countries but people take Asian Studies and European Studies to learn about Asian and or European culture and history. So have several seats.
BTW what happened to the script Squiggy was writing for Lenny years ago? I thought they were suppose to be in a movie together.I guess they will do it after she gives birth.

  • lucy

Maybe he’ll pay extra “attention” to the Director, if that’s even possible. (wink wink)

  • Tamsin SalemObservedGypsy

oh that’s right, that idiot thought Africa was a country.

Hi Lucy. Great comment and I agree with you 100%.

  • Passing Through

So Brad’s in talks to do Africa with Angie, huh? With Leakey’s accent? Not a good idea. I’m telling you – Sharlto Copley…or DD-L…who claimed to be taking a few years off after he won the OScar for Lincoln…so other Porgie could have a chance to win a Best Actor award without him walking in and showing Porgie how it’s really done. I thought that was darned nice of him…

  • Saffron

I don’t think a sane person could begin to understand the mind of a troll. It’s beyond all reason why someone would spend their lives doing nothing but being a troll on the internet. And being proud of it, too. It’s quite sad, really.

However, longer term solutions will require the cooperation of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other players in the region. Otherwise, military intervention by the World will amount to nothing but band aid because the underlying malaise of religious, ethnic and tribal intolerance and the corruption of the leaders in that region are, to me, the real reasons for the never-ending conflicts in that region.

    +++++++++++++++++++

    Lylian -

Well said. I concur. I think Saudi Arabia’s unwillingness to step into other Arab countries and be seen an aggressor is a big problem in the ME. There needs to be a stable MODERATE Muslim country willing to take a military stand for the good of all Muslim people – but the Saudis want no part of it. From their standpoint it’s lose-lose for them. They have nothing to gain – because they’re going to sell their oil regardless of what’s happening in the ME around them.

  • William Bradley & The Jolie

    Well Hello Folks.

Wow. Interesting development. But I don’t know if this is a good fit. This part just seems to scream DDL to me.

  • jul

She never called it a country……..

  • anustin

    Imagine……yohohohoho

  • Saffron

LMAO! I forgot about the accent.

In Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Holly Golightly learned French so she could speak English properly instead of talking like a hillbilly. Maybe Brad’s French lessons will help him with mastering Leakey’s accent…lol!

  • Shar16

I doubt Brad will end being the final pick, even if the studio wants him bad enough to publicly acknowledge it. But haters are going to claim that they went with Brad because no one else want to work for Angie. You know, because Unbroken only grossed $916k on it’s opening weekend…oh wait.

How much y’all want to bet that the audition line for this movie is loooooooooong with great actors and up and comers willing to work with The Dame, lol.

Pitt seems perfect for it. DDL is more for quirky characters. I am, however, open to persuasion.
