Blu-Ray and Digital HD Releases

Florence Foster Jenkins
The delightful true story about a wealthy New York socialite hits Blu-Ray and Digital HD today.

Played by Meryl Streep in yet another Oscar-worthy performance, the film is set in 1940s New York where Florence Foster Jenkins mistakenly believed her awful singing was beautiful to the point she decides to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall. A protective and concerned husband, played by the affable Hugh Grant, is now faced with his greatest challenge in this hilarious comedy.

Hidden in the hoopla of the giant summer movies, this movie stood out like a breath of fresh air. With an amazing cast, great writing, and really clean directing by Steven Frears, this film represents a general fun and feel-good story that really highlighted the love a person can have for another and the lengths to be taken protect the ones we love.

One of the highlights of the film was when they showed the real Florence Foster Jenkins at the end of the film. It made you appreciate Meryl Streep all the more, confirming what an amazing actress she is and how spot on her performance was.

The film is presented in 1080p and features a DTS-HD master audio soundtrack. The film also includes deleted scenes, the music and songs of Florence, and other featurettes including designing the overall look of the film.

For those that missed this gem in the hoopla of the summer and are just looking for a feel-good yet hilarious film, this Blu-Ray is highly recommended – especially prior to the upcoming awards season.

Morgan
When this film first came out, we were introduced to a very interesting trailer created by real life AI from IBM. This alone set the precedent for this intriguing film.

Morgan comes out on Blu-Ray/Digital HD today. The sci-fi thriller follows a risk-mitigation consultant who is tasked to determine if an AI being named Morgan, which has exhibited violent tendencies, should be terminated.

The film can be predictable at times, but enough to challenge the viewer to once again rethink of what makes a human, “human.” While the film fell to mediocre reviews, Kate Mara and Anya Taylor-Joy helped hold up the film.

The blu-ray film is presented in AVC encoded 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 The film is also available in 4k as well. Extras include a featurette on the science behind the film, deleted scenes, and an interesting short film called Loom.

For those that enjoyed Ex-Machina, this is a worth a pick up and look.
