Here's Why Taylor Swift Might Testify in Groping Case in Denver

Taylor Swift‘s legal battle against Colorado-based DJ David Mueller will go to trial this week and the court documents filed by the singer explain why she probably wants to testify on the stand.

The 27-year-old entertainer alleged that Mueller lifted her skirt and groped her butt while taking a photo with him during a concert meet-and-greet back in 2013. He sued her two years later, blaming her for being fired by radio station KYGO and damaging his reputation.

Taylor filed a countersuit against Mueller, alleging assault and battery. It’s expected that she will take the stand to testify against Mueller during the trial, which begins jury selection on Monday (August 7) in Denver, Col.

In her court documents, Taylor said that she wants to “serve as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts.” She also plans on donating any money she wins to nonprofits that are “dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard,” according to BuzzFeed.

We applaud Taylor for being brave enough to take a stand against sexual assault. Stay tuned for the latest on the trial.
