Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis' Kids Won't Be Inheriting Their Money

Ashton Kutcher poses for photos at day two of City Summit 2018 held at Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday (March 3) in Universal City, Calif.

The 40-year-old actor spoke at the business acceleration experience about his companies, A-Grade Investments and the Thorn Foundation.

Ashton recently made an appearance on his friend Dax Shepard‘s Armchair Expert podcast, where he spoke about how his two children with Mila Kunis, daughter Wyatt, 3 and son Dimitri, 15 months, will not be getting trust funds and inheriting all their money.

“My kids are not getting like big…I’m not setting up a trust for them, we’ll end up giving our money away to charity and to various things,” Ashton said. “And so if my kids want to start a business and they have a good business plan, I’ll invest in it but they’re not getting trusts. So hopefully they’ll be motivated to have what they had or some version of what they had.”

That’s so pretentious. Like if they want to go to a good college or something, they won’t pay (/couldn’t afford) it. Come on. He could have just said that they didn’t want them to be spoiled…

  • moody

he’s full of shit. they’ll pay for an ivy league school and business startup money at the very least. he’ll change his pretentious tune once those kids are teenagers.

  • Casey C

he never said they’d not pay for school, just that when he nad Mila die, they won’t be inheriting millions. same thing Bill Gates is doing.

  • jh7058622

I don’t see what’s pretentious about this. Trust funds are what make bratty rich white kids kill their parents over so not giving them one isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Make them have to have a mind of their own before their parents death is a good thing. Maybe motivate effort to create a lifestyle of their own.

  • liss

Came from nothing himself so I´m kind of a fan of the idea

  • Utope

I don’t think it’s pretentious at all. We all see what happens to many kids who are left trust funds. I think it’s a great idea to make children succeed on their own. I’m sure Mila and Ashton will pay for their kids schooling but I think what they’re saying is that they want them to succeed on their own hard work and not fall back on mommy and daddy’s money. I, for one, applaud them for this.

  • Gina

Ashton and Mila think access to money is the only deciding factor on what makes kids spoiled, but it’s not. It’s how they are raised. There are many people who come from money but have good heads on their shoulders, and you would never even know they were loaded.

*Correction: the title is misleading and made it seem like their kids would be getting NOTHING. I have no problem with the inheritance not being HUGE.

  • Casey C

but it can be a hugely contributing factor. Ive met so many assholes that just had their parents money, had no clue about the value of anyting and had never worked. I see no issue with the kids having to earn their own way. why should they inherit it all?

  • Gina

Never said they should inherit it all. An inheritance is for after your parents are dead, but in the meantime (during the many formative years leading up to your parent’s death), you can still be taught a good work ethic. There is always a happy medium, it shouldn’t be all or nothing. There are also stipulations that can be put in place where the inheritance is received in increments instead of all at once.

  • Casey C

they’re talking about when they’re dead. and they’re not saying they won’t pay for school or anything like that, just that there won’t be a massive trust fund for the kids. they also don’t say they won’t make the kids work, tht they won’t teach them the value of a dollar, just that the kids shouldn’t expect a trust fund or inheritance of millions. they shouldn’t have to say EVERYTHING in order to not have someone say ‘money isn’t the root of all evil’.

  • Gina

Well obviously they’re talking about when they’re dead. But in terms of the size of the inheritance, the title is misleading and made it seem like they would be getting nothing. I have no problem with the inheritance not being HUGE.

  • Casey C

it’s JustJared, every headline is misleading, and often made up

  • GetBigGirlPanties

This makes sense since they both came from nothing and had to earn it themselves, especially Mila. Even if it turns out they do inherit money later on I think it’s brilliant to let their kids think they won’t. They will actually do something with themselves, hopefully, instead of waiting on mommy and daddy’s money.

  • Gina

    Yep, that’s right.

  • mafragias

Yeah, i didn’t say that he said that. Just gave an example. -> It’s a little pretentious to say that your kids won’t inherit your money and then go to very expensive college (for example).

  • Ellen Ripley

afraid they’ll turn out like the Willis girls?

  • mpls68

Ashton hit the jackpot when he found success as an actor. Or does he think he’s so special he deserved that success? That money helped him start businesses. But what if his kids aren’t as lucky, or aren’t good at business? And what if they have a problem like having a kid with medical problems like your brother? What Kutcher and a lot of people don’t understand is that there are just as many spoiled, irresponsible middle class or poor kids as there are spoiled rich kids. Most of the Kennedys turned out okay, even though they had trusts….

  • Richie Roberts

They will end up wealthy like most others that come from wealth one way or another.

  • Data Grab

They may not set up trust funds but they’ll give them a headstart with a good private school, an ivy league university etc that’ll render those trusts utter useless.

  • Seth Aicklen

It seems too early to have decided and announced this. Of course, what Ashton and Mila do with their money is their business. However, their kids will grow up to have unique personalities, capabilities, attitudes, needs, and relationships with them. Their inheritances should really be determined when those things are known. Withholding them just expresses rather profound disdain and distrust. Under normal circumstances, fortunes should be retained by families, for better or worse. Large inheritances can be managed.

Honestly, they won’t need your money after you get them an education. Their last name will get them everything they need.

So you keep your money and enjoy it until you die and then you give it away but not to your kids.
How about this? Give away your money now so you are not set up just like your kids won’t be.
They think they are doing something good but they are just selfish pricks.

  • Stoni

Bad parenting to give your money away instead of helping your kids. Next thing they will say is they aren’t giving their kids Christmas presents. O wait…

I, for one, think they are horrible parents. Next thing they will say is they aren’t even giving their kids Christmas presents. O wait…
